Need advice...could I Be Pregnant??
Hello! I just recently stopped taking my bcp's Thursday June 11th so me and my husband can start trying to conceive. Normally, if I miss a pill my body is quick to tell me something because I spot for like 2 days. Well I stopped taking them on the week that I was suppose to start my period. I have not had a period yet, nor have I been spotting at all! I took a pregnancy test on Wednesday, it was negative. Is it too soon to tell if I'm pregnant, or is my body just thrown off because I stopped....I also missed a lot of pills in my last pack..I only took 9 through out the whole month, In the first week (white pills) I missed 5, the second week (light blue pills) I missed 3, and the third week (dark blue pills) I missed 4, and didn't take any the week I was suppose to start. Just to let you know..Thanks!

It's possible that things could go either way. With missing that many pills, it's a good possibility that you ARE pregnant, but you just haven't implanted yet. The test would be negative before the embryo actually implants. Case in point, I took a pregnancy test Feb. 27 that was negative, then took another one March 6 that was positive (when I still hadn't started). Missing 5 of the first 7 pills, you should've thrown that pack away because there's no way the rest of the pack would've been effective.
You'll have to let us know which way it goes!! :)

It's too early to tell for sure. That being said, I DID get pregnant while taking BCPs, so it does happen - that 1% chance does exist. Thankfully we were planning to start a family in a few months; my son just jump-started things!
Start / continue eating right, following good habits as if you were already pregnant (you should when you're trying anyway) and when you calculate when you should have your period, then it's time for a test.

You could always be pregnant, but I would trust the test. Your body is probably just off from the irregularity of taking the pills. Give it more time. If you are concerned you could always take a blood test from your doctor.

Pregnancy tests are extremely accurate. If it says you're not, you're not.
Wait a few days and take another one, if you want.

Extra 2 cents: If you could be pregnant be sure to stop drinking alcohol, don't take any medications unless your doctor says they're safe and avoid the foods on the no-no list for pregnant women - like sushi, bleu cheese, swordfish etc.etc. until you know for sure.

One can conceive on the pill, and certainly one can conceive when only taking it some of the days. It is confusing to not know what your body is doing---but you can get a much clearer picture by learning to chart the daily signs your body produces. This will tell you if you are ovulating, or in an infertile phase of the cycle. It also will give you a much better picture of what your body is doing while it is recovering from the pill. If you are not pregnant, I would recommend letting your body recover from the pill regime before pursuing pregnancy. Charting your body's signs will give you a clue as to when your body is ready. We have a lot of info on this on our site at www.canfp.org

Give yourself a full 3 wks before you check with the at home preg. test. Your body needs to have enough hormones in it to register preg.
I was preg, nearly 6 wks before my body finally decided it was really preg. Even the dr. office got it wrong. They said no. The next week, I was back because nothing changed. Then I tested positive. I knew the date of conception. It was that monumental moment.
Give it a few more weeks before you retest.

you might have taken the PT test a bit early, in some women, IF pregnant, you won't nec get a positive read for more than 18 or so days...... IF you are in fact pregnant, perhaps wait a little longer, then retake the test..
