Need Advice on What Specific Bassinet to Get-- Please!

Whatever you decide, make sure the mattress is Organic with no Fire Retardants, and that you use Organic Sheets.

Several research studies have tied SIDS to the chemicals in baby mattress's. The country of New Zealand eliminated almost all cases of of SIDS by teaching people to wrap the mattress's or use Organic ones.

Have you ever considered a moses basket? We have a changing table in our room and the moses basket sits on top of the changing table (instead of the changing pad). Don't go out and spend a whole bunch of money on these. As a matter of fact try to borrow them if you can. I borrowed two bassinets from family members for my twin girls and they both hated them! They wouldn't sleep in them and would just cry when they were inside of them. At two weeks I tried their cribs and what a world of difference. I didn't really feel comfortable having my two week old babies in a seperate room from me - but it's what worked and that is what I had to go with....so don't spend the money on these things because there might be a chance you won't even get good use out of it. Then again some mothers claim it was a lifesaver-my swings were a lifesaver. Good luck.

Hi! My baby gril is 4 months nex week and she still sleeps in her bassinet right next to my bed so I can check her all night. She's my first and I don't want her in the room yet. I went really expensie and name brand on eerything I bought her. When it came to her bassinet I figured she wouldn't be in there too long so my hisband (of course) convinced me to go cheap. We went to Walmart and I reluctantly bought a cheap off brand plastic bassinet. I was sure that I was going to end up taking it back to Walmart because it is plastic for one...I LOVE THE THING!!! It cost us $50 I think, and was quite pretty when I put it all together, white with white ruffles and a pink bow that goes around it. Can't even tell it's so cheap, seriously. My daughter sleeps really well in it, it's really safe and sturdy. It really light and I can move it around from the livingroom to her room for naps to my room at night for bedtime, and it doesn't weigh anything to move. I manually rocks if you want to. Best of all my little babygirl seems really comfy in it at night when she sleeps.
Long story short, Walmart has a bassinet for around $50 that will work great.

I have a pack-n-play with the bassinet attachment too, and I know what you mean about it being a back-killer. but when my daughter was born 4 1/2 years ago, someone gave me a Graco travel pack-n-play. it is small, but has the bassinet insert in the top (takes up the whole thing when installed, unlike the large pack-n-plays, which still have a gap where you can reach the bottom.) i didn't use it with her for some reason, but when my son was born 7 1/2 months ago, i used it almost exclusively for 5 months. i moved that thing all around my house - up stairs, down hallways, into multiple bedrooms, pretty much just wherever i needed it. plus, we have a small car, so when we traveled, that one fit better than the big monster pack-n-play (plus, to be honest, i got so used to the convenience of it, that i probably would have chosen to take it anyway!)
