Need Advice on Good Dance Studios for a 4 Year Old

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with Dance Studios for young kids. My daughter will be 4 in March and all she talks about is taking ballet classes and I have been looking around to see where a great place would be to take her. We are in the Polaris Area and I don't really want to have to drive more than 15 minutes or so for the lessons. Thanks.

What can I do next?

My daughter is 6 and goes to Northpointe. It is on Olde Worthington Rd., behind the Sunoco ( I think) at Polaris and Worthington Rd. They have classes for all ages. My daughter loves it. We live near Hollenback and Old State and it takes me less than 15 minutes to get her there. We cut down Lewis Center Rd. to Powell to Worthington to Polaris. I am sure you are familiar if you live in this area. I guess Northpointe will be building up near the Orange pool in the next year and a half.

I know you said you didnt want to drive more than 15 minutes and this would be more than that, but I think its worth it.
Our daughter takes Ballet at New Albany Ballet Company in New Albany. They have a nice website if you google the name it will take you there. THis is her first year and she is 3. The facility is soooo nice and they work so well with the girls. They also put on a production of Babes in Toyland every year along with a recital for the entire school. My daugher LOVES it. Every week she can not wait to go. There is a little girl in her class who lives in Lewis Center. Is that close to you? Anyhow, its only once a week for 45 minutes. There are some adorable shops and coffee places near by, you can always run some errands or have a cup of coffee while she is in class. YOu dont have to stay there while she dances. They dont allow parents in the dance room itself, but they do have television screens in the waiting room where you can watch her class. This is so the little ones dont get distracted. THis may not be what you are looking for, but its a nice suggestion.

Generations Performing Arts Center in downtown Westerville is good, my 3 year old is in the creative movements class they also have specific ballet, tap, etc classes. Also if you're in Westerville, the community center offers some good dance classes for little ones.
Good luck!

Have you tried The Little Gym? They have a dance/gym class combo. The kids spend 1/2 hour in the dance room doing tap and ballet and then another 1/2 hour in the gym. My kids (4yo B/G twins) have been doing this since August and it's been a great introduction to dancing. I found out my son loves it and is pretty good at the ballet and my daughter hates it.

The Little Gym is on Sancus, south of Polaris, in the shopping center w/ Hooters.
Their number is ###-###-#### and the new semester starts January 22nd. Oh and they do offer a free trial class.

Hope this helps,
M.
