Need Advice for Date Night on a Budget

I am compiling a list of suggestions for my MOPS group about date nights and I would like to hear from you. What do you and your spouse or significant other like to do on date night? I'd like to put together a list of creative date nights and date nights on a budget. What do you typically spend on babysitters and what other options have you found in lue of babysitting? It seems like me and my friends end up doing the same things every date night and it's getting boring or expensive. We need ideas.

What can I do next?

Hi Cathy!
For the summer- and again I think in October there is always Shakespear in the Park, down in Tennison Park (grand ave). It is free during the week and only $7.00 on Fri/Sat PM's. You can pack a nice picinic as food and drinks are allowed.
We have gone just for a coffee and a walk around White Rock, The Dollar movies, and of course dinner, but trying new and differnet resteraunts.
As far as babysitting, I really try and find a friend I can swap with- she will come here on night and I will go to her place another.
If I do hire a teen I pay by the job- and it depends on if I ask her to make dinners, bathe kids etc....
Our church youth group will hold parent's night outs where the youth come in and babysit, feed the kids pizza and play in the gym for a few hours. It is one on a donation basis- usually to raise $$.
Hope this helps :-)

Hello Cathy,
Well me and my fiance like to ride the DART transit. We usually go anywhere downtown and catch the happy hours. The transit is cheap and it is a very fun and a different experience. Kinda romantic, I think. In any case we also go eat sushi alot at a great place in Addison Cirle called Kampaii, then we go walking around in the park at Addison Circle. It is really quiet, romantic and beautiful. There is a little waterfall, park and a scenic walk area. We also like to go to White Rock Lake and walk around as well.
I also own and operate my own in home daycare. I do on occasion watch children in the evenings and weekends for parents to go on date nights and I would love to be a point of contact for your group. Individually I charge $5 an hour but I am willing to be flexible with price if the parents in your group decided to go out at the same time and I could watch more than 3 children at a time. The more children of course the cheaper I can go, I also have help at my daycare and I am state licensed and registered. We would watch movies, eat popcorn and have a pj party on the days where there are larger groups of children for date night so it may turn out to be really fun and inexpensive for your parents. I have plenty of references for parents that not only use me for date night but also for regular child care. If parents are uncomfortable dropping their children off I am willing to come to their home just as long as I dont have other children scheduled that night.I also have a couple of employees that may not mind traveling as well. This could be a great arrangement for your group. Let me know if you are interested.
Thanks,
Isabel

Greetings,

I have a five year old son who has Down syndrome and we you have a kid with a disability, you HAVE to REALLY find time for your spouse and you have to do it on a budget because therapy costs out the wazoo!!! So, one of our favorite date nights is to go to Shakespeare in the Park. www.shakespearedallas.com
It's free on Sunday nights and you bring a picnic blanket and food and you've got dinner theatre! During the week it only costs 7$/person so still not expensive.

When you finish this compilation of info, would you be so kind as to send me a copy?

Thanks,

R.
