Ok at the risk of sounding crazy or not too bright here goes. I have an 11 month old almost a year and he breastfeeds but not as much as he used to. I had my period the end of August and used the ovulation calendar to see when I would ovulate cause I can't take bc pills and my husband and I were gonna use protection during that time well we didn't and now I should have started my period last Friday but haven't and the pg test came back negative. Can someone explain whats going on? Is it too early am I not pregnant am I losing my mind? I am nauseated, more tired than before, have to go to the bathroom a lot, and my breast are sore when my baby nurses. Thank you for any advice.

What can I do next?

1. I would wait a few days or a week, and if you still haven't gotten your period, do another home test, or call your ob.

2. You can become pregnant while nursing so you should be using some form of birth control, unless you're wanting to become pregnant.

3. It's possible your hormones are just out of whack, so don't panic. Just give it some time, but if you're stressing about it, call your doctor, as you don't need the extra stress that also causes your cycle to be affected.

Hmmm.....when did you take the home test? I'd take another and try to do it first thing in the morning. If it still comes back negative, then I'd call your OB and see what they say. Maybe they'll have you come in for a blood test so that you can put your mind at ease. There's no harm in calling your doctors office to ask them....if you don't, your mind will drive you crazy with the "what ifs"! =0) Good luck and please let us know either way, ok!

When my daughter was that age I thought I was pregnant too, and I had a lot of what I thought were pregnancy symptoms, but it turns out that it was just the symptoms of my impending period. So that could be it, but it's possible your pregnant since you had your period back and he's nursing less. I would wait a few days to a week and test again. But I do have a friend that got her period back while breastfeeding, and she would have it one month, but miss the next month, so it could be that.

This question is better suited for a OB.
I know how you feel, becuase when my son was 11 months we thought the same thing. It turns out that when he slowed down on the breastfeeding it sent my hormones into a frenzy and it was like starting over.
Everyone is different so I can't give you a straight out answer, but the chances of getting preggo while breastfeeding is normally 1 percent. Hope I could give you some sense of relief. Good Luck!!!

since your still breast feeding you could still be a little irregular when it comes to your period, but I would take a test again and/or go see your OB. A few years ago my husband and I were trying for our 2nd child. My period was only a few days late, but I had a feeling I was pg, so I quickly took a test. It showed negative. I was stunned, a little disappointed, but felt the test was wrong and I needed to take another test. I tried to wait a few days, but couldn't stand it, so the next day I took another pg test and it showed positive. So, try another test or go to your OB.

best of luck

You might have taken the test too early or your hormones might me all over the place. I have an 11 mth old too and my husband has decided that I'm on a 3 week cycle instead of a 4week. I do seem to be having my period every 23-26 days instead of every 28. My point is breastfeeding can still be messing with your body chemistry. However you could very well be pregnant or have some other issue. Try another home test in a few days (my experience is that they are very accurate by 2 weeks after conception). If its still negative and still no period you may want to call your doctor.
