Hi, everyone!

I was planning on making a shrimp and broccoli stir fry tonight but - oops! - no rice. I have a backup plan but now I have 20 oz of raw shrimp and I do not want to put it back in the fridge.

What is your favorite no fuss quickie shrimp recipe? I need suggestions, please!

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Use fettucini or other fav noodles and add alfredo sauce (maybe pick up from store) and you are good to go!

Angel Hair With Spicy Shrimp
From Real Simple
Ingredients

12 ounces angel hair pasta or spaghetti (3/4 of a box)
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 pound peeled and deveined medium shrimp
3/4 cup dry white wine
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
Kosher salt
2 tablespoons butter

Directions
1.Cook the pasta according to the package directions. Drain the pasta and return it to the pot.
2.Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook, stirring, for 1 minute (do not let it brown).
3.Add the shrimp, wine, red pepper, and ½ teaspoon salt. Simmer until the shrimp are opaque, 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in the butter.
4.Toss the pasta with the shrimp mixture.

Hi PB&J-

Have you any noodles? (even spaghetti in a pinch)...

I would saute some onions (shallots if ya got them)...some green onions...garlic minced fresh if ya have that)... with the shrimps...then throw it all with some melted butter and your cooked noodles...parm cheese...some bread crumbs...broil to brown...

Salad on side...and YUM!

Best Luck!

Marinate for 1 hour at room temp:
1/2 cup olive or cooking oil (I use grapeseed - it has a lower smoke point than olive, but any cooking oil will do, really)
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/2 t. sugar
1/2 t. red pepper
1/4 t. dried oregano
1/2 t. garlic powder

Spray your grill basket with a non-stick spray, and grill over medium-hot fire for 12 minutes. (After 6 minutes, baste with marinade and flip.) Or, you can stick the whole grill basket on a cookie sheet and slide it in the oven at 450 or so for about 15 minutes (still have to baste and flip).

This is my favorite, but the grilling and/or baking work, regardless of what you marinate it in - so for a hurry, just pour over some of your favorite grilling sauce, baste with the same stuff halfway through, and there you go.

Pasta works well.
Just last week I sauteed some shrimp in butter with garlic and onions, added a little sherry, thicken it just a bit with a little flour, a sprinkle of dried basil towards the end, then toss it over some whole wheat pasta shells.
My family loves it.

I agree with shrimp and pasta (either veg and pasta, or alfredo, whatever you have).
Or you can fry it. I love me some fried shrimp! You can serve fried shrimp with steamed veg, rice, salad, fries, bread, pretty much anything.
Sometimes in a bind and needing to get rid of shrimp quickly, I'll make a quick shrimp creole and serve it over fried fish, or a stew, a gumbo, whatever. But another quicky that we really like is kind of a short cut, cheater paella. I'll slice up some sausage, an onion, some red and/or green pepper, and shrimp, cook it all up. At the same time, I have a packet of that mahatma saffron rice (in the shiny yellow thing, in the rice aisle, for like 80 cents). When the saffron rice is cooked, stir the meat, vegetables, even some drained rotels in it and that's actually a very tasty dinner that takes 30 minutes, from start to finish. (Er, 30 minutes if the shrimp is already washed/deveined).

This is probably too late but easy recipe - boil spaghetti noodles then stir fry them in with the shrimp and a little bit of olive oil. Then just add basil to taste. One of my favorite things to eat. If you really like garlic, you can start with the garlic in the olive oil, then add the spaghetti and the shrimp.

Why do you need the rice? You can use noodles or run out to the chinese place and pick up some steamed rice.

Boil them up and pour over noodles and add alfredo sauce,
red green and yellow bell peppers diced will add color.onion and mushrooms and sprinkle alittle graded cheese on top.
Its not chinese but should make a tasty dish.

Enjoy..
