Need a Vet

Hi,

I have been so lucky with the questions I have asked and have been very happy with the people who have been recommended to me! Since I am new here I have to ask alot of questions, sorry I have another one. I live in Rio Rancho and need to find a new vet for our dog, we loved our vet in Denver and hope to find one here also. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

I love sunrise vet clinic. George Abernathy is an amazing vet but they do get busy and it is usually a wait but he is good and he does have emergency calls after hours. the number is ###-###-####

All the vets at Acequia Animal Hospital have been good to us so far. We have a boston terrier and a black lab........The only bad thing is that they are a little pricey, but they actually don't seem to be much different from anyone else. I do have to say that my mom used petroglyph for her dog and wasn't happy and we used them too and weren't happy. Not sure if those experiences would be for everyone, but it wasn't good for us.

I hope I helped! Take Care!

We live in Rio Rancho and use Dora Cressy. She is located near the Smiths on 528. Her office is small, she is the only vet in the office and if surgery is necessary she uses Northwest Animal Clinic. The vet at NWAC, Mike Reigger is the best but his bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired. We went to him for years and I finally decided it was time to find someone more understanding. When my dog needed surgery I was relieved to hear that Dr Cressy operates at NWAC because I think it says a lot for her experience because knowing Mike, he wouldn't have that relationship with someone HE didnt respect.

We used Dr Abernathy when my turtle got hurt and he was the only vet who would see him afterhours and he was very good. My only complaint about him is that each follow up we had to make for the turtle there was a charge (our vet doesnt charge for the post op follow up visits) and, more importantly for me with four small kids, the wait time at Abernathy was so long everytime I went there! I dont think we had an appointment that was under an hour wait time. I would go back to him for the turtle because I dont think Dr Cressy does exotics, but for our dogs and cats I will stick with Dr Cressy and her smaller, more personal practice.

We take our dogs to Sunrise Vet. Dr. Abernathy is awesome! He had to amputate one of my dog's toes. He was more than willing to work with us during after hours because that's what was convenient at the time. Everyone else I've worked with over there is very friendly as well.

Hello S.!
Our vet in Rio Rancho is incredible. We love him so much. His name is Dr. Mike Forsythe at Cottonwood Animal Clinic. His clinic is across the street from Intel off of 528. Near the Long John Silvers. You'll love him. We sure do!!

We just moved here as well and live in far NW Abq. The vet we are using is the Ventana Animal Clinic on Unser near McMahon. I can't remember her name as we have only been twice but it is VERY easy to get an appt. and they are clean, prompt, and reasonably priced. However, we have not taken our dogs - just a new kitten we adopted right when we got here. My concern is that they don't board - so we may change if we find someone awesome who does. I'll be checking your request to see who everyone else recommends too. :) BTW, this office does do surgeries on site and keeps the animal overnight for observation when they do a surgery.
