Need a Stair Lift in Black Diamond

I have a friend who has a non-ambulatory son with CP and needs some help. She is a single mom living paycheck to paycheck in a split level home. She can't afford to move (working 7 days/week just to make ends meet at her business) so she carries her son up and down the stairs. Her biggest concern is safety in case of a fire, but I think an equally valid concern is the toll all this is taking on her body as her son grows. She has called all the govt. agencies she can think of, and noone will help her get a lift installed. Can you think of anything she might not have tried?

Thanks,
J.

Does she go to a church? or have any friends who do? They may be able to take up a collection and/or tell her where to go for financial assistance in getting a lift and put together a volunteer work team to install it for her.

J.,
Very sweet of you to inquire for your friend! Thanks for being a great friend. KOMO TV 4 News has something called people helpers. They broadcast the need on the news and people have an opportunity to donate resources. Also, you could have a community fundraiser. I think that you might be surprised at how many people would be willing to help. (car wash, auction from donations in the community, garage sale) The other suggestion about local churches is good too.
Good Luck! God Bless!

Do you have any idea about how much a stair lift would cost or anything about installation? Just wondering about some of the particulars...I could pass the information along at our church. Our church has been looking for ways to help people in the community and I think this sounds like a worthy cause.

Thanks,
Summer

Hi again. I have passed along this information to a volunteer group at my church and they are interested in obtaining more information from you. Feel free to email me at ____@____.com and hopefully we can try to help your friend out.

Thanks!
Summer
