Nearly 3 Months Late for Period but Negative Tests?

Hey everyone.

I'm just looking for some opinions on this. What I'm looking for is people who have gone through this and either turned out pregnant OR found out what the other cause was. Either way is fine with me! Sorry it's a little long, I just wanted to get all the information in!

I've been on yaz for a few years and always got periods like clockwork. Being on birth control, I've rarely used condoms. In June I took a few extra pills (as in I was supposed to go to placebos on a Monday and took active pills Tuesday-Thursday THEN started the placebos.) That worked but then my period ended up becoming very erratic for nearly a month, bleeding on and off and the dr said that either I should have just taken the placebos on time or skipped them all together and gone straight into the next pack. So, that made sense. Finally mid july my period evened out. Towards the end of August I was on vacation and didn't take the placebos, but went straight through to the new pack as my dr had suggested. Usually when I've done this I still have some light bleeding, this time that didn't happen. I mention this because I do not know if I'd have had a normal period that time since I took the pills straight through. Since then, in both September and October I've missed my period. I've had some cramping both during and between the times I was meant to get it, but no period, not even light spotting. I've taken a few pregnancy tests, all negative. I've heard stories of woman not being able to get a positive until 4 months or so, and was wondering if this had happened to anyone or if it could just be my body STILL (nearly three months later) adjusting to taking two packets in a row? I don't feel like I really have any symptoms except headaches (which I generally get) and nausea (which could be poor eating?) If I don't get my period again this month, in about a week, I'll be visiting the dr, but I'm just hoping for some opinions before then.

Just hoping to find out if anyone else has gone through this and found answers!

What can I do next?

Yup... any time you play with your hormones up to about 6 months of wackiness is to be expected. Most of the time things even out in 3-4 months or less, but up to 6mo is fairly common. Others, don't even blip, and are right back on schedule.

ALSO stress can delay a period indefinitely (as can dieting). In either scenario months to years of no period are common. ((It's one reason why so many women get their period the day AFTER they take a test -or to ovulate the day after. They were to stressed for their body to be in a normal cycle)). Anorexics lose their periods all together. The body's primary response is survival and menstrating/the reproductive response takes a backseat to what the body views as life threatening events. (Swing in adrenaline OR "starving" aka dieting = massive caloric reduction will do it every time).

My period was 2 months late, I took a million prego tests, 1 was positive, so I was sure I was pregnant, but about 7 were negative, I had a blood test done at the Dr's - negative. My period finally came 3 months late.
just weird!, sometimes our bodies will take a break I guess!
i am not on any BC, this was just last month, I was really glad I was not pregnant!

Not sure about this, but that could be premenopause signs. My friend went through this ans she was still in her late 30s. Just a thought!

If your pregnant & taking BC it can cause complications for baby so waitng another month for period could be too late..Anything that is alternating your periods will cause them to go out of whack i'm not a pill poper or on hormonal BC but after 3 kids all breastfeed i'm having some issues myself with my periods they are still off & not to make that my only complaint but I have PMS symptoms that are also pregnancy symptoms as well that cause me to go HUGH could I be prego but till i'm offically 2 weeks late a PG test will not work for me..As for now I would at least consult with your nurse she may order a blood test depending on that you may have to go in sooner or remain on your current BC pills then hopefully get your cycles back on track & remember these pills need to be taken at the same time everday..I'm sure you'll get some helpful info here

You could talk to your doctor, but if you are taking packs stratight through and not "skipping" or taking time off in between (like you would during the placebo time) you are actually telling your body not to have a period. This is what BC pills like Seasonal are intended to do - you take pills straight for 3 or 4 months then a week off for a period. During the time you are taking the pills you would not have a period. Most likely, this is your body adjusting to this pattern and not causing a period because the pills are telling it not to.

If you want to have a period, for peace of mind, then be sure to take the placebo time off each month - even if you do not physically take the placebo pills, it is the time that your body is not on hormones that a period will result.
