Natural/organic Hair Detangler Product Suggestions, Please!
Hi - My 4 y.o. got her hair cut last weekend and the hairdresser used some de-tangler that has left my daughter's hair beautiful - smooth and almost tangle free. (She sleeps with it in a braid to help minimize overnight tangles). The salon we went to does not use natural products, which I feel fine about for our occasional visits there. But I'd like to have a more natural/organic version for regular use at home. The one natural brand we've tried so far (can't remember the name) leaves her hair sticky. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
So What Happened?™
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. So far I've tried the California Baby detangler, which really didn't work well at all. I also tried the suggestion of mixing conditioner with water - also no good, though perhaps I didn't put enough conditioner in. I'll try that one again.
Unfortunately, my daughter then got lice. It became imperative that we be able to comb every strand of her hair as easily as possible, so as to get all the nits out. In a pinch, I tried Johnson and Johnson's Kids Detangler and it works beautifully. I haven't studied the ingredients - but it makes no claims at being natural....We'll keep trying natural ones, and use the Johnson's sparingly until we find a good alternative.
Thanks again!

Hi A.,
We use California Baby Calming Hair Detangler on my daughter and sometimes i even use it on myself...it's non-chemical, plantbased no tears, etc. It's nice and light and doesnt make her hairy greasy. I buy it at whole foods. Good luck!

MOP hair products (stands for Modern Organic Products-I think) are excellent and light weight. You can probably go to their website to find a retailer near you. I believe they only sell in Salons. JASON is another all natural product line that sells in the grocery store- but I don't know much about them. Hope this helps.

I have to say I have been using Natures gate shampoos and conditioner on me and recently tried on the baby and son. She's 2. Her and his hair is SO Much softer than when I used baby shampooo or the Burts Bees wash..My older son had been using it and his hair was always easier and shiny and I couldn't figure out why...(duh!) So thats my new favorite! Have fun....

Call Mary Carpenter in Rockland ###-###-#### and ask about her pH Normalizer. You can also use it on your face as a toner. You spray it on and it detangles hair and makes it shiny. It's very reasonable and highly herbal. It's perfect for children's hair.

Detanglers are just conditioner. So, if you buy a natural conditioner, leave a bit of it in or just put some in when brushing. I use this for my daughter and as long as its a bit then it dries beautifully, not sticky. Too much and its like putting too much gel in.
