Nanny Background Check
I found someone I want to hire for a nanny for my 6 month old once I return to work. DOes anyone know how to do a background check? There are tons on the internet but who knows if they are reputable or not. Anyone ever done one before?

You can check her/his record within the state of Texas by going out to
Web site: http://records.txdps.state.tx.us
Also, most police departments will do drug testing for you (there may be a fee).
I don't know how to do a nationwide background check.
good luck!

I am interested in this too - can you tell me what referrals you got?

I did a background check on an in-home provider when I lived in CA last year. Don't know if the procedure is the same in TX. If the nanny is licensed, get her # and contact licensing. You should be able to make an appointment to go through her file. Hope this helps!

You can do background checks on the internet. I have a friend who has used specific sites before. Let me know if you want to go the internet route and need the links.
