Our family is adopting a female rottie puppy and we would like some name ideas. We already have a boy named Draco. I like Storm but hubby doesn't. What are your favorite names?

My brother owned a mom and two sons all Rotties. The mom's name was Shadow Ann. I think it is fitting with the temperment she had. Very pertective of certain people and kids.
We had one named Bubba...not a good girl name. I don't know any good names, but as a fellow rottie lover I just wanted to say I'm jealous! I miss my big bone head Bubba, and I can't wait to have another rottie in my life. They are great dogs! Have fun!
It's too bad some people are so closed minded about rotties. *sigh* They must not have ever had the joy of a rottie in their lives!
Well since Draco is a Harry Potter themed name also, the Bella suggestion is a really good one bc Bellatrix Lestrange is Draco's aunt! :-) Narcissa is Draco's mom so you could do Cissy.

Good luck! Rotties are the BEST dogs ever for a family! They are so kind and gentle with children! I remember riding them around the yard like a horse when I was little. It is all in how you raise them! AND other people are afraid of them so they are great protectors as well!

I don't know why people are commenting on safety issues with your new dog just because she is a rottie. Unsolicited advice, I guess. I just wanted to say that we have a rottie/lab mix we got as a puppy from a shelter 8 years ago and she is the sweetest dog. I have boys who love to pounce on her and lay on top of her. She is so tolerant. She knows if she wants to stop them she just needs to licks them- works like a charm! People who think it is the breed don't know dogs. I have two friends who own small lap dogs, the kind most people wouldn't worry about for a second. Those dogs have each biten people. It isn't the breed but the dog and the dog owners. But I'm sure you already know that!

How about the name Stein for frankenstein.A friend of mine has a chowchow they named stein because they got it around halloween.
Since your other pup is Draco, why not another constellation name, like- Orion, Cassiopia (prob cass for short) etc.. I'm sure there would be lots of examples on the internet. Happy Naming!!

I liked the name Bella--it means beatiful
my sister's rot is named Nika and she has never ever bitten a person ever and she is 12 years old. It isn't the breed of dog it is how you raise the dog. You teach them the word no and that you are boss. You teach them how to play, how to be a family pet. My husband has been bitten by a cocker spaniel, I was bitten by a springer spaniel, and my friend was bitten by a golden retriever. People are afaid of Rotweilers because they are popular with certain kinds of people that like their dogs to be look mean, so they train them to be mean and they don't take care of them and they don't train them to be a family pet. But if you know the breed you know that they are very loving family dogs. But you can't ever trust any dog with a child. Any dog can turn on a dime and be irritated or may just be having a bad day. It isn't safe to assume any breed of dog is safer than another. Have fun with your new puppy!

In keeping with the Harry Potter theme (Draco Malfoy! - love it), what about Hermione or Bellatrix (Bell in short). Or you can go with Emma (Emma Watson plays Hermione). I like Emma. Sorry to go on and on about this, but I love this kind of stuff. I could keep going if you like - Luna, Fang, Fluffy (the three headed rottie!) Last one: Tonks!
Just be sure it's something you can call out from the porch and not have your neighbors think you are nuts, swearing, etc.!
I have friends who named their dog "Kelev" which is "dog" in Hebrew. If your family is from a particular culture and you speak that language or want your kids to know a few words, you might check out "dog" in that language and see how it sounds!
Be sure you teach safe dog-approach techniques to your daycare kids. It's a great thing to do and a lot of families don't know what to teach, or don't realize it's important. I work with our neighbor kids to be sure they don't lean on my dog while petting her, show them how to give their closed hand first for a sniff before petting, and so on. You have bigger kids but a lot of little ones don't know to ask an owner first if they can pet a dog, etc. Particularly with a rottie, which many people fear, and especially with kids, it will be great if you can teach them proper "greeting" techniques for ALL dogs and let them practice on your dog!

I love funny names for dogs. Our neighbors have a big lab and his name is Einstein which just cracks me up. I also like the name Czar.
I agree, most families won't want their children in a daycare with a rottie.

Well if you are running a daycare I really don't think you should be getting a rottie! if it were me i'd yank me kid out of your house real fast. They are unpredictable dogs no matter how well you bring them up. You should have gone for something more considered a family dog like a lab.
