Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Hi All
I am thinking of traveling to Myrtle Beach, SC in August. I have heard that there is a risk of hurricanes in August. Is this true? We have an opportunity to rent a 3 bdr condo for a very inexpensive price and are very interested in going. But am now worried that we'll get stuck in a hurricane.......has anyone travelled to SC in August. How is the weather?
Thanks in advance

Thank you everyone for your advice. We are definately going to go. Probably in June for various reasons but am looking forward to it.

Hi L.,
I vacation in SC with my family almost always in August! We've rented the same beach house for the last 4 years and have had beautiful weather: sunny and hot! There is always a chance of a hurricane during hurricanes season but I wouldn't worry too much. Hope you have fun!
Best,
H.

Hi
hurricane season starts in june and goes until I believe October. I have a second home there and have spent a few summers there, and all has been well.
I just want to tell you that it is very very HOT!
enjoy - you'll have a wonderful time - there is something to do for everyone.

I have family down there and go often do not worry. The only thing that may happen is a hurricane will come and you have to decide to go or not and often when that happens we go anyway and the storm goes past. No worries. B.

Hi L.,
Throughout the whole summer there is a chance of hurricanes in SC. I've been there in June when a hurricane hit the day before and in August when there was not one. Myrtle Beach is beautiful and if you have the chance to go I would. One thing you should watch out for are riptides which occur all the time.

I've been to North Carolina, the Outerbanks, in August and the weather was stellar!! I figure it should be the same for you in South Carolina.
