My Uterus Feels as Though It Is Contracting When I'm Sleeping....
I am currently in my 5th month of pregnancy and I have noticed lately that when i'm sleeping sometimes I wake up and my stomache is as hard as a rock. It happens sometimes throughout the day as well. I was just wondering if anyone else out there has experienced this or something similar. Or if I need to be worried.

C.,
Hi... well I know what you're going through, this didn't happen to me with my first son until I was almost due, but I had a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions with my second son (who's now almost 8 months old) and early on too. I'm not your doctor, but as far as I can tell from what you've described it perfectly normal and nothing to be worried about.
Hope this helps!

I am also pregant with my second and have experienced the same thing. They say that this is really common for second time mom's to feel this as early as 20 weeks. As long as it doesn't last for more then an hour and intensify it is compeltely normal. If you are concerned though I would talk to your OB. Good luck to you

Yes while most likely it is braxton hicks I would get checked just to be sure. I was in pre-term labor at 25 weeks and "just thought it was braxton hicks" My babies were born at only 27 weeks! So my advice is to be overly sure about everything!
Congrats on your little one...good luck:)

Those are Braxton-Hicks contractions. Totally normal, though any concern you have should be brought up in your next OB appt. Since you have already had a baby you can get these contractions earlier then the previous pregnancy, and they can be stronger, so maybe more noticable. I had them pretty strong starting from pretty early in my fourth pregnancy. Good luck. Congrats on the new baby.

That is usually what they call Braxton Hicks.... it pretty well stinks. My daughter had them from 4 mths on... The docs werent worried tho as they were far too inconsistent, too short and too far apart. Give em a call for your own peace of mind, but this is probably all it is...
Good luck

Congratulations, when are you due? I am due September 23rd. I live NW of Lansing in Owosso area with my hubby of 8 years and my little boy Evan who turned 2 in March (29th). I started out a SAHM but when my parents retired I now work from a home office for a company that markets FujiFilm.
In re to your question-I have been having the same thing happen, I chalked it up to Braxton Hicks but figured I'd ask my Dr. when I go in next week for my glucose test.
Good luck!

Hi,
See your doctor immediately just to be sure. My stomach felt similar at weeks 17-21...turns out the tightness/cramping was pre-term labor contractions. I ended up going through about 3 1/2 months of bedrest, medication to stop my contractions and once-a-day monitoring of my contractions with machinery at home to make sure I wasn't having too many. My baby came at 31 weeks (now 19 months old, healthy and wild as can be).
I don't mean to scare you. You are probably fine. It could very well be Braxton-Hicks contractions, but definitely check with your physician.
