My two yr old Son Tristyn has a cough and we are an all natural and Organic Family so we try to be very safe.
But we bought some Homeopathic Medicine to help him sleep. First I gave him Alpha CF colds & Flu ,its probably
Helped him but he's up now. We also bought childrens chestal it says for ages two and up.
My Q is my son just turned two Feb 4th is it really safe bc he just turned two ? and I'm worried bc I want to try the
Chestal now bc he's up at 12 30 am but I gave him the Alpha CF a couple hrs ago, only two tabs though
Is it safe to give him chestal so soon after I gave him Alpha CF , I don't want to over dose him ?

What can I do next?

I wouldn't think so, but I'm not familiar with the products. Maybe you could call a pharmacy and ask to speak with the pharmacist? Also I think a child's weight is usually more important than their age, but ask the pharmacist about that too.
Hope your little guy feels better soon!! :)

this is probably late, but most hospitals i believe you can call and talk to a nurse 24 hours a day. turning two isn't really a firm line, it's more about how big your child is. if he is small for is age it may not be a good idea, but the nurse can explain that to you better.

Be really careful about raw honey even mixed into milk. Children under 3 yrs old have digestive systems that aren't as developed to handle the botulism spores that are in raw honey. Obviously raw honey on a spoon is a choking hazard and should never be given.

The directions on the containers of medication you bought ought to have dosages and the time frames for those dosages ie. when the doses would wear off. I would think that after the CF wears off per the directions he'll be perfectly fine to have the chestal.

It's difficult with cough medications though, because most won't recommend giving them to a child that's under 3 years old. There's a Vick's vaporub for children that my kids love, as well as hot showers. I don't offer them anything with dairy at all when they have a cough because dairy produces phlegm and will make them cough more in the long run.

also try stuffing a small blanket or two under the head of his mattress to prop it up a bit. I use a chest rub and humidifier also. During the day and right before bed I also use tea with honey... Celestial Seasons has a sleepytime/respiratory one.

One thing you can do is what my Momma did for me back in the 70's. Go into the bathroom, shut the door and a/c vent, turn the shower on with the hottest water possible and sit with him on the floor while he inhales all the hot steam. It should clear any "crud" that he is coughing from.
Its non-evasive, simple home remedy that has worked for years.

A humidifier works well too in their rooms, as does Vicks vapor on the chest.

I've used a teaspoon of honey before bed and then if my daughter wakes in the night I will give another teaspoon. Before bed I use an all natural chest rub, http://www.gaiaherbs.com/products/detail/698/Warming-Ches.... Sometimes my daughter doesn't like it on her chest or back so I will just rub her feet with it and put cotton socks on her.

Always call a pharmacy when you do not know how when to dose, how much to dose or if two drugs will interact. If you don't have a 24hr. pharmacy in your town, find the nearest one and have their number ready. They know more than doctors about drug usage and interactions.
Good Luck.

I always use honey since both my kids are over one. My kids are 4 and 22 months. They won't take it directly by spoon so we mix it in warm milk or caffeine free tea. I work in a pediatricians office and often hear them recommend this. But I'd get him checked out too if the cough doesn't go away and especially if he's got a fever.
