My Three and a Half Yr Old Daughter Is Still Sucking Her Thumb - HELP!

Hello! I have not been able to successfully stop my little one from sucking her thumb. Does anybody have any experience in this? I have tried the 'THUMB' nail polish but that didn't work and she refuses to let her thumb bandaged :(
She is going to turn 4 this summer!!

She will grow out of it. I sucked my thumb until 7. My mother would bandage my hands at night and use the yucky tasting nail polish. She tried EVERTHING. It was a habit I did not want to break.... until my first slumber party. Peer pressure is what caused me to quit the thumb. My cousin sucked his thumb until he was 12. He quit after hie friends gave him a hard time. Now he has a son who sucks his thumb and he is resigned to it. I would not worry about it. Also, with the help of braces, our smiles are fantastic!:) My Mother says she wasted many nights worring about this nonsense. She looks back and wishes she would have gotten her beauty sleep. Good Luck Momma!

When my daughter was 3 1/2 we bribed her with a new bedding set for her big girl bed and we did put a sock on it at night. During the day we just kept saying, do you want your new princess blanket? It worked for her because it's what she wanted.
Good luck.

I have been going through the same thing with my 3 1/2 year old. We just gently remind her but not nag her while she is awake. Her dentist which she just visited said it was okay for another year, but to just keep reminding her gently to pull it out.

I tried just about everything and nothing worked either. I am hoping she just kicks it eventually.

Is there a reason that you feel like she needs to stop right now?

My son just turned four and is still sucking his thumb particularly at night and when he needs comfort. Other kids we know are still doing the same. The way I see it they are dealing with so many issues with becoming more independent, if that helps then that's okay with me.
