OK, so my son turns 9 next week. He wants a Dragon Party. So far, I have everything in place. I made dragon masks (instead of party hats), and I have Dragon Party Favor Bags. I need a Dragon Game. I was thinking "Pin the Tail on the Dragon", but I cannot find any "Dragon's" Does anybody know how I can make the game? Or does anyone have any other suggestions for games?

What can I do next?

Have you tried Oriental Trading online? They have everything you could possible need for parties. Also, Construction Playthings in Plano has a ton of party stuff too. This might sound weird, but if they don't have it, maybe an Oriental store would? I know there are some in the Plano area. HTH!

Have you done a search under "Chinese New Year"? There may be some games listed there since dragons are prominent in those celebrations.
Good luck! I think it sounds like a great theme.

When my son was 5 we did a dinosaur party much the same. You can use a coloring book to go by and draw out a large dragon minus the tail. Or if you are not the artistic type you might be able to take it to a kinkos or something like that where they can blow up the page poster size. You could even find a picture from the internet. You and your son could color it in yourselfs then take it to have it blown up. make multiple copies of the tail, enough for each child at the party. Take then to a teachers store or mardel (or possibly an office supply store) to have it laminated for durability. We took easter eggs that we had on hand and put tiny dinosaurs in them and hid them and did a dinosaur egg hunt. I also took paper plates, printed out pictures of dinosaurs and pasted them on plates and got a tape of dinosaur children's songs and we did musical dinosaurs like musical chairs. I found a three foot inflatable dinosaur and paper mached over it, painted it and made a large dinosaur pinnata. If you would like to email me with any questions you are welcome to at ____@____.com. I will be out of town for the weekend. Good luck.

For my sons Dinasour party, I made dinasour eggs (out of paper macha) and put small dinasours in them. The kids had to crack the eggs to help the baby dinos get out, if you could find play dragons that might work. The kids had a blast cracking their eggs and it was a different activity.

My sister in law made her own pin the tail on the Dora for my daughters Dora party. She drew a picture of Dora on a piece of poster board and got some construction paper strips for "ribbon". Then we had the children tape it on where it was supposed to go. She is pretty creative. Good luck!

Check out PBS Dragon Tales http://pbskids.org/dragontales/index_sw.html I don't know if it's too young for a 9 year old, but they have coloring book pages, links to activities, and I think Albertson's or Kroger may make Dragon Tales cakes.

Maybe you could print out a dragon fron some website. As far as games.. My son (8) went to a party at the great wolf lodge and they did a hunt with wands and it was so cool he thought. You could recreate it with sowrds and hunt down clues that lead to a special prize or prizes like a treasure chest. Or have a box that has a dragon drawn on paper or cardboard in front of it and have differant mind bender questions (dragon related) that they have to get to cut off that arm or head and eventually slay the dragon and get the loot in the box. You might find a chess or monopoly game with a dragon theme and have a toutament. charades with clues from movies with dragons.

Maybe you should try "Pin the sword on the shield".

They could play Capture the Flag and each team could have designated "dragons" who try to capture the other team's knights.

This one sounds cute:

DRAGON TAIL TAG
Objective: A game where you attempt to get the other teams flag.
Players: 6 or more players.
Needed: Flags for each team Use a scarf, or a lightweight towel or a handkerchief
Rules: Make small chains of about four to six people. Either have team members hold on to each others waists or link elbows. Members of the chains cannot let go! The end person has a flag or tail (bandana) hanging behind them or tucked in their back pocket. The object is to have the head of each chain (the dragon's head) get the flag, scarf or whatever from the other team while staying linked. Both teams attempt to do this at the same time. When one team manages to get the flag. The losing team rotates and the head moves to the back while everyone else moves forward.

Sounds like a great party!

My 14 yr old son wants to offer you some "good" advice.

Tag-Slay the Dragon--"it" is a knight and trys to slay the dragons (tag), if tagged, you are now the Knight--switch off the foam sword and mask.

red light, green light-"it" is the dragon and calls out red light when facing the group and green light when turned away (quickly), the knights are sneaking up on the dragon. If you move during red light, dragon eats you up, you must go back to start. (no one is actually eaten)

Hide and Seek-Find the missing princess, don't find the dragons! "it" is a knight. (or, if he prefers BEING the dragon, switch. it is a dragon, avoid the knights!)

Have a flaming good time!

You could download a picture of a dragon, take it to Kinkos and they can enlarge it for you. Then just use strips of ribbon with the "dots" adhesive found at Joann's or paper for the pinning part.

WOW!! God bless you for taking all this on. Depending on what kind of budget you are looking at you can go to Michaels or hobby lobby and by a projector. they are used to enlarge patterns. you can just project the image on the wall to play or a sheet or you can get a large poster board and project it there to trace it out and color it in. I traced out a picture once and let the kids as they arrived color it in for something for them to do while they waited for all the guest to arrive. They had a great time and made the party personal for all of them. Instead of tail since dragons tails are quit large why not make it a scale and let each of the color their own scale and put their name on it to put in their goody bag. I have a 3 yo that will be 4 in March and he wants transformers so I have started now blowing up a transformer and cutting the pieces out so they can all color a piece then we are going to assemble it on cork squares I will hang on the wall and see how crazy it looks. I am going to set up a black cloth to take head shots of each child and crop them into the transformer face for keep sakes for the kids and his birthday scrap book. Last year we did hand and foot prints with fabric paint and put each ones name on their square and I put a clear pocket on the square and made a quilt for his wall. I originally bought the projector to enlarge pictures on the boys walls to paint for decoration. I did shadow silouettes above their beds so the investment was worth it for me. Good Luck

Wow! You are very brave to even have a party with that many kids! You are incredible! How about a sand box (if it's not too cold) filled with some kind of dinosaur bones or fossils (you can make if you can't find) and they have to hunt for them or something? God Bless you!

Instead of Pin the "Tail" on the Dragon, how about Pin the "Fire" on the Dragon? Find a dragon picture in a coloring book or story book and take it down to your local Library and see if they have a projector that you can use. Then enlarge it and trace it onto a poster board. Once traced and colored you can laminate it. Do the same for the "flames".

Another idea would to have a "Dragon Egg Hunt". Have the kids each decorate a shoe box to be their "treasure chest" then let them hunt "Dragon Eggs" in the back yard. You can fill plastic eggs with small trinkets and candies.

You could also do pin the sword on the knight? Maybe get some big paper & trace your son & decorate him as a knight then make a paper sword? Sounds like a fun party, good luck!

The only thing I could think of is to draw a picture of a dragon somehow...but I was thinking that instead of pin the tail you could do pin the flame-don't dragons breathe fire? Or is that too scarry? What about doing a "Dragon Dash" and have some sort of relay or race? Not sure where you are having the party or if there is room. Sorry I am not much help but it sure sounds like a fun party. I am with the other poster, I applaud you for taking care of your neices and nephews-you are the true meaning of family. Blessings!
