My Son's Diaper Leaks Overnight!! Help!!

Hi Mommies!
You all have given such great advice that I thought that I would see what you all had to say about my latest "dilemma"! My son is 11 months old and has been saturating his Huggies Overnights diapers to the point that he is soaking wet in the mornings when he wakes up! During the day he wears Huggies Supremes in a size 3 but, for nighttime we put him in the Overnights Size 4..But, he still soaks through! I've tried looking for "diaper doublers" but NOBODY carries them anymore including Babies r Us! Do you have any ideas? I've tried looking online for them but, Diaper Double ups as they are called now are 45 dollars a box of 192 and that doesn't include shipping! I've thought about sanitary napkins but, they all seem to have a plastic backing on them that prevents the actual diaper from working! I can't go to cloth b/c my son has VERY messy Bowel movements and when we tried them, they were even worse than the disposables!
Thank you ladies in advance for all of your wonderful advice!

What can I do next?

This may sound crazy, but maybe you can just try a regular diaper in size 4 and compare their ability to keep him dry. They might work better than an "overnight". You could also try even a size 5 in a regular diaper and put a piece of tape over the tabs to help get the size adjusted correctly around his stomach. My son is 15 months, and he wears size 3 during the day, and we put a size 4 on him at night. We use the generic Parent's Choice diapers at Wal-Mart and they work well. Sometimes he's slightly wet, but I wouldn't say soaked. You might also consider cutting back on how much milk he gets right before bed. I do sometimes use cloth pocket diapers at night, and I insert extra pieces of folded flannel which are great, but that would only work if you can change him to a disposable before he would have a bowel movement.

It seems like all kids go through this... my son and daughter were the same way. We used the next larger size diaper for night time as well, but also the rubber/plastic pants used for toilet training on top of the next size diaper. It helps with at least containing the mess. I know before we tried it, I was very tired of washing crib sheets. Good luck! I hope you find something that works for you.

Same thing happened to my little man. We layered him with size 4 and size 5 Pampers Cruisers. I've also tried size 4 Cruisers and size 6 diapers (can't remember the brand). Both of those worked for us.

It did seem to be a phase. He is 16 mo now and hasn't needed two diapers in 3 months or so.

Good luck.

Try a larger size diaper (regular or overnight) size 5 maybe.

Or, try taking out the cotton stuff inside a sanitary napkin to use as an insert- tried that with my son but it didn't work too well.

Or, try dressing him in a snug-fitting onesie over his diaper so that it holds the diaper close to him. Is he filling the dipaer or just missing? Sometimes with my son it seemed more like he was missing rather than soaking the whole thing through so getting a snug fit helped.

And to save time in the middle of the night when/if you have to change crib sheets, double-sheet the crib (so from the mattress up it's mattress, waterproof cover, sheet, waterproof cover, sheet). Just peel off the wet layers and put dry baby back down rather than make the crib again.
