My Sisters Baby Shower

Hello,

My sister is pregnant with her 3rd. She has a 4 yr old boy and a 2 year told girl. The 3rd is another boy. I want to throw her a shower. I'm one of those people that thinks every baby deserves a shower. She has all the big items but of course needs bottles, diapers, clothes, etc. I've heard of "diaper showers" ... how does one throw one of those? (lol) Do I literally put on the invitation diaper shower? Or should she go ahead & still register but just register for the necesities? Thanks for your advice!

What can I do next?

She should go ahead and register for the things that she needs.

Yes, when throwing a diaper shower, you usually write on the invitation to 'please bring a back of diapers' (you can even add wipes to it).

I agree with you, every baby deserves a shower. Obviously it should be a smaller affair than for the first but a shower/luncheon at least. You can put something on the invitation that says, "Since this is baby number three, he just needs the necessities. Big brother and sister are providing the big stuff but Susie is registered at Babies R Us (or wherever) for the few things she needs". Best of luck.

Get her some cloth diapers, they save thousands of $$$ and they are so much better for the environment. Also, if she has any more kids after this one, she can use them again for the next kid. Or pass them on to you for if you have a kid???? Either way it's healthier for the kid AND the environment.

Nice that you want to do this for your sister!

Peace

What we are doing for my 2nd is everyone who brings a pack of diapers gets entered into a drawing for a cool goft (we got a gift card for a night out). And I would still register for anything she needs (there are very generous people, like family members, out there who like to do more then just thje diapers) Hoep this helps ((HUGS))

I think it's fine to have a baby shower for every baby! I live around Chicago & have a home business making diaper cakes for baby showers. I ship nationwide. I also give mamapedia members a 10% discount. My site is www.mydiaperbabycakes.com.

Good luck!

For one of my friends, we did a diapers & daquiri's party ... we were a group of single moms and one of our group members had everything she really needed for #2, but gifts of the consumable items (diapers, wipes, baby wash, etc) would still be very helpful, as others have stated. We made all different types of daquiris (yes, even non-alcoholic ones) and everyone brought diapers for the momma we were celebrating. Since we usually got together for Friday happy hour at her house anyway (she did NOT want our Friday night tradition to stop even when she wasn't drinking with us ... LOL).

Like Mamaof3boys, we always do a pamper party now when someone is having #2, #3 or more.

I love the wording Shaun C. used, "baby sprinkle" what a cute concept. i hadn't heard that terminology here in South Florida yet. Cute. :)

Have fun!!!!

The ladies at my church insisted on throwing my a shower for my 4th a few months ago. The lady who was in charge had me make a list of things I needed and put it in the invitation. It worked out well!

I had a diaper shower with no. 2 and 4 (3 was my only girl so my friends threw me a regular shower). The invitations said diaper shower. I still registered for the few things I needed, so that was at the bottom. (bottles, onesies, diaper rash cream)The host bought me new bottles and filled them with m&ms.

When any of my circle of girlfriends is having a 2nd or 3rd baby- we always give "a pamper party" and on the invite we just request everyone bring a pack of diapers any size. Hope this helps with ideas. You can never go wrong with diapers. Good luck

Look up "baby sprinkle." I think that's what you're looking for.

Traditionally it's in poor taste to throw a shower for more than the first baby BUT you could throw a "bless the baby" party with a list of NECESSITIES so that she doesn't end up with things she all ready has. I would keep it light - just dessert and coffee only and put a "suggested list of needed items" such as diapers (all sizes), wipes, baby soap, onesies, baby tylenol/motrin, baby clippers, diaper cream, etc.
