My parents are moving here from Portland, OR. Crazy times ahead! With that they will need pcps, cardio, and gastero doctors as soon as they get here. Which is late February. Help! All I can refer them to is my OB!! Note, when my dad was here last he decided to check out Baylor at Grapevine...for days. He really liked it there and would like to use that facility. My parents will be living in Keller.......WITH US!!

I completely understand your situation - my parents are moving here with me soon. I agree, start with internal/family medicine and get referrals from them. Baylor Grapevine is a great hospital (I work there) - but if you have speciality needs you may need to go to a larger hospital downtown (my mom needs a specialty neurologist, and oncologist - my dad needs a really good cardiologist and cardiovascular surgeon). Eye doctors, dentists, etc. - it can feel overwhelming!

BREATHE - as long as they don't have immediate needs, you will get it figured out.

If he's still there Dr. Steven Lacey was at Grapevine Baylor.... he belonged to a group. Can't remember the name something like Texas Gastrointerologists etc. He was fantastic!

I have used Dr. James Weber in Grapevine for 15 years as my gastro doctor. He also has a Keller office. He is about as good as you can get and very personable. I believe the firm is called Texas Digestive.

I have used Dr. David May in Lewisville as my cardiologist for many years and he is wonderful too. I had to switch cardio docs for a short period because of my insurance and I went to Dr. Scherer in Grapevine and I liked him very much. When my insurance added Dr. May, I returned to him, but he had many great things to say about Dr. Scherer and his care for me.

My Gastrointerologist is next to Baylor Grapevine. His name is Timothy Ritter.
2020 W State Highway 114
Texas Digestive Disease Consultants
Suite 300
Grapevine, TX 76051

601 S Main St
Texas Digestive Disease Consult
Suite 110

I think that he is great. I switched my insurance so that I would not have to find a new Gastrointerologist.

Dear L. L,

I have almost the same situation. You will cope. Stay calm, and try to be patient. I suggest you take your parents to Southlake Family Medicine. They actually have some doctors that accept Medicare. That's an issue around here. Because our area is demographically "young", we have few doctors who take Medicare patients. Start there. Then let them refer your parents to specialists.

I'm leaving town today for a week, but I'll be back in Keller next week. Don't hesitate to contact me, if you want to get together or talk on the phone. I feel your pain!!! Seriously, I feel your love as well. You must be a very caring daughter to offer (or agree) to take care of your parents.

Don't forget to take care of yourself as well!

Deb D
