My Husband May Have TB

I am so sorry S.! I know you must be a wreck. Did your hubby have any of the symptoms before the xray, like the cough, fatigue, bloody mucus? Where would he have been exposed to it? It is treatable and a blessing if you do catch it now. I know nothing but what I have read about it and that guy who rode on an airplane that had it in the news.

That guy in the news was going to get married and around his fiance and she never contracted it, so I will pray none of you have contracted it either. HUGS!

I am sorry you and your husband are having to deal with this.

Remember worring won't do you any good, TRUST that your little one will be fine and that your husband if that is the diagnosis is living in a great time and country, to get medical help.

I don’t think telling you to take a deep breath and relax is going to help. Don’t stress to much over this just yet. When I was heading into college I had to have the typical tests and I had a positive skin test and I freaked out. The doctors were not to worried but they did do chest x-rays and they were clear so they deemed it inactive but I did have to go on a medicine called INH for a full year and now I am not allowed to have another skin test done again however they can do a blood test called TB Gold to make sure that you don’t have it or that it has not become active. It is expensive but insurance does pay. And it is more conclusive then the skin test. Please keep us informed and we will be sure to keep you and your family in our prayers

We've been totally happy with everything we've learned at National Jewish. They are a great resource to start with. Also, my mom is the same way. Her tests are always positive and her lungs look like TB on first look. I have always tested negative and so have my kids. (NJH did a test on both because of the family history even though it's not actually TB.) It is possible to have a positive, without it being TB or passing it on. I hope everything turns out okay.

Plan some fun activty for the family and try not think about it. Take a deep breath and thank God they caught it brfore it is to late. No matter the out come God is in control and just hang in there. There are drugs to help now and it is not a death sentence it used to be.

My mom and sister had it when we where young, but I didn't, I know they had to be put on medication and can never have a skin test again (not sure why). Theirs was an inactive form of it, most people who have it are inactive and pose no threat to society as a whole. The only advice I can give is to slow down a little and wait and see what the doctors have to say, if there was any imminent danger precautions would have been implemented.
