So What Happened?

Thanks for your advice even though I thought some of it was harsh judgemental but any way things are going fine we are working together and are on the same page because my 2yr old gran daughter is with me majority of the time because her parents are at work. They were really waiting on me to start implementing things with her because Shes with me after daycare so don't think for one instance I'm trying to take over. Also I hope every one knows the issues with kids sucking a bottle for way to long it damaged there teeth in a whole lot of ways. The daycare doesn't allow any of the kids to take a bottle they drink out of cups not sippy cups so I know if she can do it there for 8 hours a day she can continue at home at least until bed time. thats why it doesnt bother me that she cry's for one when she gets home the crying never last for long/ As far as for potty training we are playing it by ear because she is showing the signs that she is ready by telling us before or after she has used the diaper .I know someone asked about my son is he special needs no he is not consider special needs but he has had feeding issues that are being worked on by a nutritionist and doctors because he had a severe case of acid reflux. but he is being encouraged to drink form his sippy cup during the day.

First, you really aren't going to make any progress with her while she's watching your son drink from a bottle. So, if the parents are not on board and your son is not ready to give up his bottle, I say leave her alone for now. When you're ready to wean your son from the bottle, maybe then talk to her parents about weaning her from the bottle, at least during the day.

how old are they?

does she get a bottle at daycare?
if her parents aren't on board, you are pretty much sunk.

Once she is 18 you won't remember when she stopped taking the bottle:)

One question...Why are you taking responsibility to train your granddaughter? Let her PARENTS do it and worry about your own child.

You can only succeed in breaking her from taking a bottle if she doesn't get a bottle at home. She has to have the same message consistently.

Remember each baby is different and there are plenty different ways of parenting. I would have a talk with your grand daughters parents and see how they want things handled. As long as they aren't advocating physical harm I would abide by their wishes. It concerns me a bit that you say you don't care that she is upset. Are her parents ok with this in an effort to transition her to a cup?
One of the hardest things I have done is keep quiet on certain matters with my grand baby. It isn't wrong it is just a different parenting style that he grew up with and my di l prefers.
Also if they are on the same page they can tell you what they use at home to encourage
I missed the age of the babies in question that would affect my answer of what to do with her in regards to your son still having a bottle due to his issues

I can relate to feeding issues I have a special needs kiddo
