My Daughter (4Yrs) Has a Very Runny/stuffy at Times Nose :( Please Help!
Just wondering what to do to help ease the irritation because she can't hardly breathe when she lies down...I gave her childrens Claritin earlier today (around 230) is there anything else medication wise that would be ok for her to take since she has already taken claritin? or any home remedies you would suggest? Thanks so much!

I have used Vicks on my children for years and now my Grandchildren. I rub a little on their chest and they breathe in the vapors and it helps open up their passages.

Her sinuses might be so swollen that they literally fall into her nasal airpassage, blocking air coming through. Shine a flashlight up her nose and have her tilt her head...if you see a bulge or any kind of skin in the air passage, then that might be the culprit.
Bring her to an allergist. They might be able to get xrays and find out if her sinuses are swollen, due to allergies.

maybe the spray or the saline? Maybe Benadryl instead? Prop her pillow up so it can drain. I use a Neti pot but not sure how you could do that with a child. A friend's child used it but I am not sure how she did it, it is pouring water in their nose and it comes out the other nostril so teaching them to not swallow or suck it in might be hard. Try the saline drops or spray.

Dayquil might work but I don't think that comes in a liquid. Nasal spray. I have bad allergies so I need Allegra, Nasal Spray and eye drops. They all work together. Maybe a humidifier for her room.

Claritin the the kind of medicine that needs to be taken regularly over several days to see its effects. If you take it here and there, you will not see it working. (Just something to keep in mind or otherwise you are wasting your money).
My kids and I both have allergies. She might have swollen sinuses...I sometimes also used small doses of benedryl and saline nasal spray.
Personally, I would recommend only going to an allergiest if you think her allergies are severe. Try the pediatrician 1st. I am someone with serious allergies/asthma, but my experience is that allergists prefer aggressive treatment. For me, I'd rather take 2 meds and be 80% than 4 meds and be 90%...they shoot for perfection and I they use what I consider scare tactics ("this is the worst I have seen") to convince you. I am sure had I tried the allergist with my son before trying some OTC Zyrtec, it would have been the same with him as it is for me...and who can say no when someone is telling them their kid needs something!!!

Baby Vicks, on her chest.
And, take her to the Doctor, since she is sick.
Don't have her lie down.
Since she can't breathe that way. Or,
Elevate her head with a high pillow.
There is also something called "Little Noses" which is for kids, and is a nasal spray nasal decongestant.
Found at any drugstore.

Sorry to hear she's not feeling well. Have you tried using a humidifier with eucalyptus in her room? Sometimes a little bit of Vicks VapoRub helps when they're congested. You can spot a little between her upper lip and nose or rub some on her upper chest. The only way to help her sleep at night is to keep her slightly propped up. What works for us is either adding an extra pillow or raising the head of her bed with something that is super sturdy. It only needs 2-4 inches, but it helps! If you can't get that to work, let her sleep propped up on the couch or recliner. Hope your sweetie feels better soon! If it is allergies, keep giving the claritin even when she's doing better.
