My Cat Is Peeing on My Dry Clean Only Comforter.

You might want to put litter boxes in a few different areas through out your home if she is older but she also might be having a hard time getting up after laying down and getting comfortable or perhaps she has a health issue going on like a UTI our dog has gotten them a few times in the past. If it continues you may want to take her into the vet to get checked out. It could be something as simple as arthritis or a uti or could be because she is getting old she is losing bladder control.

Have you taken your kitty to the vet? My older cat was peeing on things last summer, and it turns out she had a raging bladder infection. Sometimes peeing on things is the only way they can communicate to you that they are ill. After her infection cleared up, she went back to her litter box.

I'd take it to the cleaner's right away - the sooner the better. They will tell you that they can't guarantee any results, but ask them to give it a really good try.

We've had cats for years, and we always have Nature's Miracle on hand. We get it at the pet store, and it's worth every penny. I have never tried it on a comforter, but I use it on other things for stains and odors (not just from pets) and it's very effective.

Old kitties have their challenges, but they're just as great to love as the young ones. I hope moving the litter box (and keeping it very clean) will solve the problem. Do you need to ask the vet to check her out for a urinary tract infection?

Take it in as soon as you can but leave it alone since its a dry clean only comforter. I would get a comforter that you can wash yourself in case of futre accidents (dry cleaning a comforter is expensive!!) and also move the litter closer. Also make sure its clean and private.

It sounds like your cat may have started into kidney failure. This is very common with cats, and it could unfortunately happen frequently. Some cats require fluid injections and highly digestible foods at this point in their life to avoid the accidents. The good news is - if there is good news is if this is from kidney failure, the urine is usually highly diluted and not as smelly as cat urine typically is so it should clean up fine at the dry cleaner. I would make a vet appt.

When my cat got older, he started having accidents outside the litter box. I took him to the vet and he had started kidney failure. The vet changed his diet and gave me recommendations for getting more fluid in him, but gently told me that he would probably die within 6 months. He got better for a couple months on the diet change and I put ice in his dish to encourage him to drink more water, but when the end came, it came quickly - 2 weeks of rapid deterioration. My solution to the litter box problem, though, was to keep kitty in the laundry room when I could not be home. I put out cotton rugs that could be easily washed, his bed that he liked, food/water and litter box. If he had an accident it was easily cleaned. I kept him out of the rooms where I didn't want accidents, but let him have more freedom when I was home to watch. If you still want to allow kitty on your bed, then I'd say switch to a quilt that is easy to wash. I have used "Simple Solution" for 15 years on everything - carpet, clothes, beds, etc and it works wonders and does not leave a stain or odor. I got it at Petsmart.

My cat pee'd on a leather jacket once. The dry cleaner did assure me they could get the pee out of it and they did. As long as you let them know I'm pretty sure they can fix ya up. As far as stopping the cat from doing it again in the future I dont know how you can stop that. My cat hates foil, so I have foil laying in certain spots that I dont want her on.... of course you cant foil your whole bed.
