My baby is 21month old now. Her lips turn blue when she cries. Is this an symptom of any heart defects or cyanosos?

What can I do next?

You should take her in immediately....not later but immediately.

Get off of Mamapedia and get your baby to the Dr where she needs to be STAT.

How on earth do you think a social website for moms (who are great moms) can diagnose your baby. We are all complete strangers. We do support each other and try to help each other but good grief....

If my baby ever had blue lips I would be at a Dr office, not a social website trying to self diagnose.

NEVER compromise your child's health or safety.

I am amazed that people expect strangers to diagnose their children over the internet!!

TAKE YOUR BABY TO A DOCTOR, PLEASE!!! Bluing of the lips is a major sign of oxygen deficiency (not enough oxygen) and/or respiratory distress. Any website you go to will tell you, that if your child's lips are blue to seek IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION, from a doctor - not a mom's social website!!!

She's probably not taking in enough oxygen when crying, which is not that uncommon. But you MUST take her to the doctor to be sure. As soon as you can get an appointment.

please take that baby to a specialist, this is not normal and requires furthur testing to determine what the problem could be. Lips turning blue is a sign she is not getting enough oxygen

Best to call your pediatrician about this. Some babies cry hard like that, but ask your doctor or the nurse what to look for.

I agree with KP, take her to your Ped. and get a recommendation for a specialist. Don't take no for an answer! Take pictures when her lips are blue and take them to the doctor's office with you. Don't let her cry it out or wear herself out crying, try to keep her calm as much as possible at least until you can get to the bottom of what is going on.
