My 9 Year Old Bladder Issue

Have any of you ever heard of this. My 9 year old is randomly dripping in her pants. She is very frustrated with it. It is not when she has to go. A lot of times it is after she goes. She says she waits till all is out and then a while later some drips out. We checked with the doctor for a Bladder Infection and diabetes, and all was fine there. I am very apprehensive to take her to a urologist for major testing. Has anyone ever heard of this?
Thanks,
D.

Had the same problem with my son last year when he was 7. He was so embarrassed and upset. His undies would be leaked on even though he went and made sure to empty his bladder. After a few trips to the regular doctor and testing him for bladder infections & diabetes. I finally got a doctor to listen to me and he sent us to a pediatric urologist. They did an x-ray (or maybe it was an ultrasound) and found out he was constipated and blocked up. She said that even though he is pooping regularly it's not all coming out. This is causing pressure on his bladder which in turn makes the muscles that hold your pee weaker and pee leeks out. We ended up having to give him miralax to soften it up and he went back a few months later after no more leakage and she said to keep doing the miralax but cut back. He's been off it for a few months now and we've had no more problems.

My friend has a 5 year old who has the same problem. Poor thing, she's always grabbing herself after she pee's. She has literally told her mom that "more pee pee is coming out." When my friend goes to look, there is a little dot of wetness on her underwear. It must be irritating enough to say something to her mom. I will tell her about about the constipation that Celeste had mentioned. She has gone to the doctors, but nothing has ever been done about it.....she just deals with it.
My friend will be relieved to know she is not the only mom dealing with this issue. Good luck to you and your little girl.

I would have already had her to a pediatric Urologist. What if she has some deformity that could have been fixed years ago and she would never have had to have dripping pants....she may also just have weak muscles or something she can do exercises for. There may be a biological reason that is an easy fix. But you can't know until she is diagnosed.

I would definently take her to a urologist she's too young to be having issues like that. She may have problems emptying her bladder. I have had that problem but don't think I did that young. You want to get it figure out as I am sure it is very embarissing for her.

Good luck and God Bless!!!

NOt in a child so young. I think you should go further with a medical professional.

In the meantime, have her wear panty liners for the times she "leaks".

I have heard urologist recommend after she finishes going before pulling up pants....stand up (perhaps use some toilet paper to catch drips), then sit back on toilet and try to go again. They recommend this for elderly people too. It sounds like she's not fully voiding and some urine gets stuck in her urethra.

I definitely wouldn't be reluctant to go to a urologist. She may also have a UTI which is affecting her sphincter's ability to fully close after voiding. In the meantime, give her a minipad to catch any drips until problem can be resolved.

Bring her to a chiropractor. Make sure they specialize in children's health problems. I have worked with children with this problem in the past and it's been from subluxations of the Lumbar spine causing a disconnect. Clear up the cause and the symptom will clear as well.
