My three year old got stung twice on the bottom of her foot today. Does anyone know what kind of allergic reactions I need to watch for and for how long after the sting? I have only been stung once in my life and I did not have an allergic reaction so I do not know what I'm looking for. Any help or advice is appreciated! Thanks

What can I do next?

Extreme swelling and difficulty breathing are the major ones that come to mind. Usually if you are going to have a bad reaction it would come on rather quickly, I think. Keep an eye on her, but she should be fine. Comfort her, make sure the stinger is out of her foot, and put a paste of baking soda and water on it, and maybe a cool compress, and some tylenol for pain. Poor kid, getting stung sucks!

By the time you've written this if you see no reactions including extreme swelling, fever, dizziness, all around poor feeling then she should be fine but she may feel a bit icky for a bit, especially on her foot cuz she does need to walk. People have always said to keep Benydryl around and after all these years every time I go to grab some the shelves are always wiped out no matter what time of year! No matter what store! Drives me nuts so I've never to this day been able to keep any on hand. I have 6 year old triplets so I'd like to have some of that for a bee sting cuz none have been stung yet but never on the store shelves.

from my experience...if you are writing this...then she's just fine and will be just fine. My son has been stung three times now in two years just a tiny bit of swelling by the puncture mark and that is all.

Look for redness, swelling, hives, fatigue, itchiness, etc...

If she's suddenly 'not herself' or having ANY trouble breathing, get to the ER immediately.

To play it safe, I'd give her some Benadryl RIGHT now.
