My 3 1/2 Year Old Daughter Has a Black Head on Her Nose!

Okay, when I was a teenager and in my early twenties I had real bad acne. I just recently got it under control and dont seem to have that many problems with acne lately. I was hoping my kids would not get my skin type, but I noticed on my daughter she has a small black head on her nose. Isn't that a little early to be getting one of those at 3 years old?? How do I get rid of it? I dont want to pop, I dont think that is good for her skin not to mention how she would freak out if I even tried. Any suggestion or advice?

What can I do next?

make sure you wash her face everyday... she may have had a pore that was open and got dirt into it.. put some balmex (diaper rash cream ) on it when she falls asleep.. it should go away within a day or two using the cream.. then make sure you teach her about washing her face.. you are nver to young to learn.

Please call the pediatrician instead of taking our advice.

Just in the off chance it's not a black head (could be the start of a mole or a more serious medical condition), I'd call the pediatrician's office to be sure.

Our daughter had what looked like a pimple on her back last week. She's two, and it really seemed to hurt. Thank God a friend mentioned it looked like her son's MRSA - a serious staph infection. We called the pediatrician who worked her in that day, confirmed MRSA and put her immediately on an antibiotic.

Derm issues are really hard to diagnose, so let your pediatrician guide you - even if it is acne. I, too, have struggled with acne most of my life, but a 3.5 year old getting it is really uncommon.

Good luck!

I would use Sei Bella for sensitive skin. I wouldn't worry too much, because hormones can fluctuate in EVERYONE. E-mail me and I can get you the information: ____@____.com The cleaner is very effective, gentle and natural, and won't through off her natural oils.

Maybe you can cut down a little Boire strip and place it just on that spot... Do it right after bath, after her face has been washed with warm water. You'll probably have to stick some on your face as well, so she'll feel comfortable with it. Call it a "mama sticker". (But be gentle when you pull it off. Not sure how delicate her nose skin would be, but you wouldn't want to pull any skin off too. Follow the directions, don't let the strip get too dry and "stuck".)

I would try putting some peroxide on it with a Qtip. You may want to get a referral to a dermatologist to try and get a head start on her skin type and which cleaning solutions are going to benefit her. As we all know if your skin is too oily or too dry it leads to break outs.

I had bad acne too! I can sympathize. I worry for my son, but his skin seems so clear (he is almost 12).

I would just leave it be.

Blackheads are just pores that get clogged with dirt.
It's not surprising for a little kid to get one.
When she's in a warm bath or shower, use a wash rag gently to scrub it.
It may work it's way out.
Also, Walgreens and Rite aid have mud masks and peel off masks.
After her bath, you can rub some of the mud mask on and let it dry, then rinse it off with a wash cloth. They have clear masks that are made of herbal things that you rub on and wait to dry and they peel off. Hopefully the blackhead will come right out too.
Since she's young and has sensitive skin, you may want to find a mild glycerine soap with no fragrances to help her wash her face with to keep her pores clear.
Definitely begin to teach her to keep her hands off her face while she's playing outside or when her hands aren't clean. Bacteria on the skin isn't good.
My son got a black head on the side of his nose and I used the above tricks.
I just gently scraped my fingernail across it and it came out
Just get her in the habit of washing her face with gentle products.

Best wishes!
