So What Happened?

I ate a Halloween whopper, which somebody said could be a culprit, thanks for the responses, ladies :)

if you've parented for any length of time, you should have encountered this before.

since no one else knows what the two of you have been eating, it'll be hard to get a diagnosis from the internet.

if he's acting sick, go to the doctor. if not, let it pass out of his system.

Have you been to any birthday parties recently? I find that cake/cupcake icing will often cause this because so much food colouring is used.

If you've eaten anything with food dye like cake frosting or candies or that black whopper bun you have your answer. Food dye changes the color of your poop. There are other foods that can change the color of your poop. If you are taking an iron supplement it can turn it green too.
Being unable to diagnose you over the internet and not being a doctor my advice is to call your doctor and ask. Explain any symptoms, tell them what you've eaten lately, answer their questions and see what they say.

I know the black buns from the Halloween whopper at BK turns poop green, so if you were sharing the bread.... (it's true, by the way)
If that's the case, you are likely just fine. I also had a former (not so smart) client when I was a nanny who would share his Slimfast shakes with his kid. Same result. The mom was not pleased.

Well it's likely something you both ate, probably 2-3 days ago. The shorter the time for it to pass through the greener it is also (why diarrhea is often greenish).

It could be a tummy problem if it persists. Just keep an eye on it, and tell your doctor if it doesn't pass.

Some food dyes, green vegetables, etc. will do this. Good luck :)

He he, I was thinking of the Wopper, too. Crazy, right? It has something to do with the food coloring used in the bun.

It's something you both ate. Probably something with artificial coloring, but it could be lots of green veggies.

Unless you are both sick, I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you both start having symptoms that cause you concern and make you call the doctor, go ahead and mention the green poop, as it could be related. But unless you have other symptoms, I wouldn't worry about green poop.

Fruit Loops, Licorice, and many other foods have the ability to color poop. If he hasn't eaten anything that can do this it's time to put a call in to the after hours number at your docs office.

My son loves peas and green beans - his poop will be green from those if he eats a ton and some days he does....

Any kind of food or drink that is black, blue, purple, or green, can cause this. Especially since you both have it. I bet it was something you ate. If you can't put your finger on anything, don't stress. It'll probably go away in a day or two anyway. I agree with the person who said frosting is a big culprit - there is a LOT of food coloring in that stuff!

i knew a guy once that would drink the halloween slushies just to see what color he could poop. then he would brag about which slushie made his poo the oddest color. (teenage boys 20 years ago.. you would think they couold of come up with something better to brag about.lol)

Give a call to the pediatrician - there's always someone on call on the weekend. Could be something you both ate, but it could also be a virus that you both have. Obviously your child is more sensitive than you are and needs to be watched over. Hydrate well because it helps flush out whatever it is, and of course because if it turns to diarrhea then you are losing fluids. Wash hands extremely well all the time so it doesn't get passed to others in the family. I'd stick close to home so as not to pass it around and in case it turns into diarrhea.
