My 11 Months Old Son Is Not Crawling Yet, Should I Be Worried?
My son is 11 months old and he is not crawling. He is doing everything he should be doing (i.e. sitting up well, standing with support, grasping object with his pointer finger and thumb, passing objects from one hand to another, rolling aroind all over and scooting with his legs when he is on his back). I was just wondering if any of you other moms experienced this with your children and how things turned out. I'm sure he will turn out just fine. I am hoping that you will calm my slight concerns.

There's nothing to worry about. My daughter didn't crawl at all. She would get upset everytime I put her on her tummy so that she would crawl but she would just roll over to her back. She started walking a few days before her first birthday. She's 4 now and is doing perfectly fine.

Hi A., My son did all kinds of things except crawl until he was about 11 months old. I wouldn't worry but if at some point you have a well baby check up you could ask the doctor. Sounds like he is doing lots of other things fine.

Babies are all so different. Your son may just be starting late. Some babies skip crawling - they go straight to walking. I don't think you need to worry as long as all the other things are on schedule. My sons were very different. My oldest was walking at 9 1/2 months. My younger son was just over a year. I don't remember when he started crawling, but it was later than the charts say. Those baby schedule things just drive a mom crazy.

Don't worry! Babies develop at their own pace and will do everything on their own time. My daughter didn't start crawling until 11 months. She also did everything else, including using blankets and other toys to bring other toys to her instead of crawling to get them. I understand your concern; but she is now 19 months old and running everywhere! When she wasn't doing things I thought she "should" be doing, I just reminded myself that she has her own personality and will do everything when she is ready. Good luck, I am sure he will be crawling soon, but in the meantime, just let him be himself, it sounds like he is developing his motor skills right on track!

It could be he is just skipping crawling altogether and going straight to walking. However, if he does not start walking and/or crawling soon and you Mom intuition is talking to you, you should listen. It has never steered me wrong. If you voice your concerns to his pediatrician and he/she tell you "wait and see" find another doctor. If your Mom intuition causes you to actually be concerned enough to ask questions here and then of a doctor keep pushing until someone listens and evaluates him appropriately. Hopefully, he is just skipping the crawling but keep a close eye on him and best of wishes.

A.,
I have a 11 month old girl that turned 11 months on the 9th I had the same problem and also noticed her head tilt to the right sometimes. I took her to physical therapy and she had a weak neck muscle and the trunk of her back they just said she is delayed and also not all babies crawl. She is very smart and would rather just sit there and check things out then go get something she finds away by scooting. But last week she started to crawl it was just overnight. So I wouldn't worry about it if he can sit up and stand.
