My 10 Month Old Ate Something Gross!
We moved in 2 weeks ago and because of the doors always being open and shut, we have a couple flies. Well, i have been cleaning them up for a week now. This morning my 10 month old found one and ate half of it!!! GROSS!! I pulled the rest out of his mouth and flushed him out with water. I almost feel like calling the doctor. Flies are so germy and gross. Any advice?

Hi M.,
That is definitely right up there on the list with the grossest things I can imagine! Yuk! There's not much more you can do at this point. Putting it into perspective, it was probably much more disgusting to you than it was harmful to him. He'll be fine. (Hey--at least you got the bug-eating incident over with in the first year! LOL)

When my daughter was about 4 1/2 months old, she ate little tiny ants. I don't know how many she actually swallowed, but there were 3-4 in her mouth. I happened to have a Dr. appt a few days later and mentioned it - the Dr. was more impressed that she was able to pick them up and get them into her mouth...

Yuck. Welcome to parenting a kid on the move. Every time my son puts something awful in his mouth, I keep reminding myself of the rhyme my neighbors used to say "You eat a pound of dirt before you die, so a little bit of dirt won't hurt". :)
Really, kids are resilient. If he didn't throw it up, it'll probably be fine.

When my son was 6 months he was sitting in our living room and for some reason our dog decided to poop within arms reach of him. What is more fun to play with for a 6 month old than a warm, mushy thing? Needless to say, my son grabbed it and it went right into his mouth before I could stop him. I called the doctor and poison control and they both could not hold back their giggles. That was a new one for them!
Anyway, for me- his germaphobe mom, it was a nightmare! (I can laugh about it now!)But, he was totally fine. This will probably be only the first of many gross things your son puts in his mouth. Ohhhhh... the joys of parenting!

LOL... all part of being a parent... there will be a whole lot grosser things your child will do in his lifetime. Besides, the acid in his tummy will get rid of germs.

welcome to the world of exploration! My daughter just found the toilet bowl brush and the water in the bottom of the stand (which had cleaner residue on it). Kids are tough and unless it's something dangerous (straight pin or poison) laugh about it and watch a little closer.
