"Musty Smelling Suitcase"

Try dumping a carton of baking soda in the suitcase and leaving it overnight, then vacuum the next day. Might work.

I remember my mom always using newspaper. I am not sure it works, but I don't remember them ever smelling!

I would try sprinkling it with baking soda and letting it set for a couple of hours. Then dust or vac. it out. You can also do a vinegar spritz.

Put it outside (open) in the good old sunshine! At night close it up with a dryer sheet inside! Have fun!

yes, open it up and sit it outside to air it out, sometimes the answer is something really simple...Or if that doesn't work you can always buy stick-ups, or spray it with perfume... Sorry not much help.....

Fabreeze works great. Try leaving a fabric softener sheet in it the next time you put it away to prevent it coming back.

I have been told to put in a bounce dryer sheet and let them sit. You could put in a box of the fridge baking soda...the kid of box that is contained but has the side vent for the baking soda to help absorb the mustiness and then try the dryer sheet. I am told to do that when storing the suitcases...I have yet to it but plan to as we are cleaning out.

try bounce dryer sheets, if your suit case is really musty i would put more than one in it leave it in there till your are ready to start packing. then take them out and you can put new ones in with the clothes that you are packing. your clothes wil keep thier freshness. i use them alot, and for alot of differnt things, when we put the pop-up camper away for the winter i always put new fresh dryer sheets in it, under all the cushions, in the cabinets, even in the refridgerator. when i open it in the spring it always has a nice scent (much better than the traditional mothballs YUCK!!!). it also help with keeping bugs and other critters out.

Other than leaving the cover to the suitcase open for a day or two, I would suggest using dryer sheets or even Febreeze spray.

My solution to anything with a musty smell is sol-u-mel. It's a wonderful product that has many uses but it works great on smells. It uses melaleuca oil (tea tree oil) as its base product & for this reason it works well on so many things! It's a product that I will never be without in my home. It removes stains, takes permanent marker off of almost anything, removes crayon, etc...

My absolute favorite cure for any must or organic odor is an ozone generator....clears mold, cigar/cigarette smoke, pet mistakes, athletic equipment odors for good. You may not get one in time for your suitcase, I would borrow one....but, they are fabulous to have on hand, especially with kids and pets! Google Maxblaster 911 or ozone generators. You close off the affected room for a numer of hours to produce the results you need. Items like suitcases can't be washed, so this is wonderful.

I would spray it out with a mildew cleaner like Lysol, let it air & dry, If that doesn't do it, Then set a shallow pan of vinegar in the suitcase and let it sit for about 6 hours, then again air out the suitcase. That should do it.

Hi G., My mother always said to crumple up newspapers and fill the suitcase, then close it for a few hours, and check it. I use Shaklee's Basic G (G for germicide) to clean mildew and mold on anything. You can spray it all over the inside as well as wiping the entire outside with it. Some folks swear by the sun and feel that leaving an item out in the sun all day will get rid of many odors, including musty ones. Hope one of these ideas will be helpful.
