Multiples or Just Showing Sooner?

I am almost 7 weeks pregnant with my third child. I have not gained any weight yet but my jeans are starting not to fit--already. I have heard that you pop sooner with each pregnancy, although that did not happen with my 2nd child. My husband joked it was twins. I am looking for thoughts from anyone about their experiences with this.

What can I do next?

I am not sure if you are having multiples or not, but I am in the same boat as you. I am only 7 weeks into my third pregnancy and can already see a bulge. I am afraid of how big my belly may eventually get since it is already off to a big start. My youngest child is almost 6 so while my muscles may have been stretched at the time, they have no excuse now.

I hear this is common after having been pregnant before. Just try to stay with in the weight gain guidelinse your doc recommends and enjoy your pregnancy.

Lol! I know this is much easier said than done. Congratulations!!!

I went through the same thing with #2, showed WAY sooner, and differently, too. I'm guessing it's that because my hips and joints were already rearranged from #1, that my body just said "I give up" sooner and started relaxing in places I didn't expect. And yes, getting those jeans zipped was the toughest!

(Incidentally, I had an early ultrasound with #1 because I was showing a little early then, too, and twins run in my family. No twins, though.)

Is there a history of twins in your family? I'm only 5 weeks 5 days along in my third pregnancy and my pants are fitting tighter, too. I haven't gained any weight anywhere but my belly. There are no twins in mine or my husband's families so I'm positive I'm just growing already. Unless there are twins in your family you're probably just "popping" already.

I am a little more than 5 months pregnant with my third and I am definitely lokking bigger that I ever was. I popped right away and was a little worried about multiples like you. But I think with your third, you are just stretched out more! I had an ultrasound which showed only one baby, but I still look at my belly wondering how there could only be one in there, and where will the next four months lead me?!? I'm not getting bigger anywhere else, but what a belly- watch out! Good luck and above all, enjoy your pregnancy!

Well, if there is more than one in there, there is nothing "different" you should be doing right now anyway. You should just talk about this concern with your Doctor when you go in. My first pregnancy was "normal" all the way through until my first ultrasound at 20 weeks - that is when I found out I was having twins. My midwife didn't "think" to listen for another heartbeat after she found the first one! And I had not taken fertility pills or had a history of twins in the family (although it is only the mother's side that counts). Needless to say, I switched to an OB/GYN after that. Of course everyone else thought I looked a little big, but no one wanted to hurt my feelings, so they didn't say anything. There is no way to know unless by hearing more than one heartbeat or by ultrasound, so just keep eating well, get enough water and sleep and things will progress the way they want, one, two or more babies! Congratulations and good luck!
