Multi Vitamin/probiotic

What is the best multi vitamin to give 11 month old and then also 3 1/2 year old? Liquid polyvitamin stains teeth and causes her to gag/throw up.
Also anyone using probiotics for children and adults?

What can I do next?

Nature's plus has an excellent liquid vitamin for babies under a year old, it's all natural. A great all natural chewable vitamin that I give my four year old (it has no dye or artifical flavors) is Source Of Life - Animal Parade. They come in grape/watermelon flavor. The probiotic I use is UDO's Choice- Infant's Probiotic. UDO's Choice also provides a Probiotic for adults. It's in a powder form, so you can easily mix it in food or drinks. I purchase all these products from my local health food store. They have all worked great for me.

I order most things like this from www.vitacost.com
My kids use the Garden of Life brand. "Primal Defense" This is a powder and can be mixed in with drinks or food. It is banana flavor. I love this kind, I use the adult kid for myself.
(a multi is great just be careful what kid you get, flinstones are garbage they have aspartame in them which is horrible!!!)

I would use a whole food multi-vitamin. You could go to your local health food store and inquire about it. And as far as the probiotics, we use the Jarrow Brand probiotics. For the little ones, we just open up a capsule and put it in something...drink or food.

My name is Dr. Stephanie T. and for my pediatric patients and for those children in our family I recommend nutraMetrix Spectrum Isotonix Multivitamin and Spectrum Isotonix Probiotics. Isotonix is a powder that is mixed with water and the children love the taste. All isotonix products can be mixed together with water and given to the children drink them at the same time.

You can call me with any questions and visit the website: www.drtucker.nutrametrix.com Down the left side of the home page there is a tab that says Children's Health that will direct you to the appropriate page based upon interest.

Probiotics - KiddiFlora chewable for kids. Vitamins - we use Standard Process brand, Catalyn chewable. The latter is only sold by chiropractors and such. I buy both at Dr Chris' Natural Pharmacy in Snellville GA. I think we started the catalyn chewable pretty early, they love chewing up the vitamins and they taste good. My daughter is 22 months and has been on both for quite a while - probably since 10 months. Both recommended by our naturopath.

I shop at Harry's or whole foods (or any natural health food store) Harrys' will have the best selection though. Get a refridgerated probiotic ( I use Jarrow brand for my kids)for your 11 month old you can buy powder form or capsule form and open it and put it into applesauce or juice- for your 3 yr old they have chewable Jarrow brand called yum yum dophilus..my kids like those- or you can use the same powder form as well.
youcan also find many multi-vitamins there as well- I personally use Natures Plus brand for my kids- but there are many to choose from there are gummy kind ( I've used those before Child bright I think they are called) powder kind and chewable- it just depends on what your kids will take- I had to try several different forms before I found one they would take.....just dont' buy the kind in the regular grocery store though- they are filled with things you dont' want to put in your childs body...if they eat a well balanced diet with plenty of veggies- they probably do not need a mulit vitamin- but a probiotic is always a good supplement.
Also- we use Juice Plus gummies- which are awesome- my kids love them- they are packed with antioxidents and are a great supplement for your kids- I swear by them and my kids rarely get sick when they are on the Juice Plus gummies ( you need to find a distributor or go online to order them)
Good Luck to you!

Hi T.,

If you are looking for a straight multivitamin without minerals, you can probably go to a health food store and ask for a pharmaceutical grade vitamin for your little one. If you want minerals in the complex as well (which are necessary)that's more complicated. There is only one multivitamin/mineral complex on the market that is documented not to cause free radical activity. Please please, please, avoid the Flintstones and those types of vitamins as they are absolutely dangerous. Whole food supplements, if a high quality, can be good also because minerals are digested like food. You also need to know what the absorption rate is as well.

As far as a probiotic, I use a probiotic/prebiotic complex for everyone in my family. It comes in capsule form and can be opened up and put in food or drink for little ones. It is a very high quality and I trust the manufacturer. The products I use are exclusive to a membership club and I'd be glad to give you more information if you'd like.

M.
