I am just wanting some suggestions about mp3 players for my two girls, I am planning on getting them for christmas. My oldest is 5 and the youngest is almost 4 (December 30th). I was thinking about the Fisher Price Kid Tough for my youngest girl, but wanted to know if anyone has bought it and any info about it. I also thought about the Disney MP3 for my oldest and if anyone had that one. Really just any suggestions about what are some good ones, also my husband wants for christmas and I was planning on getting him one too. Any suggestions on some good ones, I don't really know much about them, so any info anyone might have would be great!

So What Happened?

Thank you all so much for the responses. I still need to do a litlle research, and thanks for the great websites. Also, I am not planning on buying expensive ones for the girls. They make certain ones for them. The Fisher Price Kid Tough MP3 Player is made for kids 3 and up and comes with software that has kid music and stories and is for them. Thanks again for the info!!!!!

Both my kids got mp3 players for their birthday this past year. My son is 5 and my daughter is 4. The ones that the received were by TekNek. We have both the older one and the newer version. The newer version is nice because it comes with speakers so that they can both listen to it together if they want to. But they both love being able to listen to music together, or seperate. I recomend this brand because their customer service is wonderful. We had a problem with my son's, it lost the songs and then I couldn't upload them again. Well to make a long story short, I emailed teknek and told them the problem that we were having, they said that normally they had a patch or software upgrade on line that wasn't working at the time, so they told me to send them my name and address and they would send me another one! I thought that was awesome! My son was very upset that his "player" didn't work, so I told him it would be a little while and we would get another in the mail. I was expecting 3-4 weeks or something like that (they never said in the email how long it would take), but about 2-3 days later fed ex showed up at my door with the "player". I was blown away at thier customer service! And they are easy for my kids to use also! Sorry this was so long, hope this helps some!

I absolutely love my i-pod! Your husband may like it. As for the kids, I just wouldn't. You'll probably be spending too much time adjusting volume, and fixing earphones when they fall out!

I recently purchased an MP3 player for my self. My daughter(8) loves it and tries to steal it all the time. I am a morning beach walker and leave it in the cubby in my car and she finds its and "walks" the yard with it. I am going to get her one for christmas. I have read here that the Disney one is good. I looked at them for my daughter, THEY ARE TOO expensive for a child. This is something that is going to get lost or broken in the end. However, There are a few under $30 too. I am buying my daughter a Sandisk Sansa. It is the same one that I have and its really easy to use has the digital on the front so you can see what she is listening to etc. They are on sale now that it is christmas with a rebate. I saw it for $35.00 in the paper this past Sunday I just can't remember where it was. Best Buy has the one that I have on sale also for $59 which is almost $20 less then what I payed for mine. If set on buying one for your daughter get one know when they are on sale. Make sure of what programing the one you get uses and DOUBLE check what download sites are recommended for the model you purchase. I have no trouble using mine and use rhapsody for downloads but I have heard that you can use Itunes for some but not others. I understand most of the ones that you purchase from Walmart will use a walmart tunes download and not much else. Ask the sales person when you go to purchase. I got my Sandisk after talking to friends that had MP3 players too. I wanted an Ipod but decided to go with MP3 until I learned how to do it. Just remember a 99cent song download is still cheaper then a $15 CD that you only like one song off of. Good luck and I hope this has helped. Oh and when you do buy one...... to keep from having to keep "fixing" the ear phones try purchasing head phones instead thats what Im going to do for my daughter she has a lot of trouble with the ear phones. I saw in another post that I am not the only one and I think kids ears are too small for these anyway.

I have no clue about buying MP3 player for children that young. I know my son will be getting my husband's old one since he got a new one just recently. I would try getting them some inexpensive but good personal cd players and see how they take care of them before spending the money on an expensive electronic equipment for them to possibly distroy in a month or so. The best and cheapest place to buy MP3s or Ipods try going to www.newegg.com. Everything is highly discounted and great products with full discriptions and also opinons from others. I bought my laptop wich at most stores I was looking at about 1,000 but payed less than 700 with tax and s&h included.

I have a 6 year old son and, at the beginning of the summer I purchased him a Disney MP3 Player from Target for around $40-50. I really like it becasue you can also purchased pre-recorded expansion card ($15.99, also at Target) with all the songs that they hear and sing along with on Disney Channel. This MP3 player have some cool accessory to go with it. Do your reasearch but, I recommend this MP3 Player.

I dont know anything about the Disney one but as far as the one for your hubby, you may want to try a Ipod. They are really hot right now and can hold alot of songs on them.

An MP3 player for 4 and 5 years old. Not a great decision in my book. That is just WAY too young. They don't need to "tune out" at that age. My oldest JUST turned 12 and we got one for her for her birthday but I almost didn't do that. But they are your children and your decision. Good luck.

I reccommend the sandisk 256 (the red one). I bought mine on woot.com for 12.99 +$5 shipping. I think you can find them on ebay for a little more. They have room for all the music your girls know at that age and it also has an fm radio (radio Disney!) and a voice recorder which is a fun toy for kids. I give them away for birthday presents to my 2nd grader's friends.

I have a 5yr old boy and he liks his V-Smile. It is a game that teaches them also. My neice also has one. The games are reasonable priced and they come in different age ranges as well. They will work for all of the kids and even fun for you to play. I hope that this works for you.

like someone else said, I have no clue for buying those for kids. We just bought one for hubby so he has something to listen to while he does his workouts. I would LOVE to have one but they are just so expensive. And as for our son, he wont have one till MUCH MUCH later in life, same goes for tvs, digital cameras (we got one last week finally) etc. He is only 4..we can share, if we are using it and he wants it, he has to wait..

I bought the Disney MP3 player for my 6 year old for her birthday this July and I love it. The only thing I dont like too much is that it doesnt show the songs that are playing. No big deal of course I just like to see what they are listening to. Of course if you dont have a computer you can buy those little discs to play in it and dont need to download songs.
It seems to work great so far and it cuts down on arguing between my husband and the radio and my 13 year old and my 6 year od. They all can listen to what they want!

We just purchased MP3 players for the whole family - myself, my husband, my son (10), and my daughter (8). I wanted one first, so my husband purchased a Creative Nano for me at Walmart for about $70. I love it - it has an am/fm tuner, voice recorder, and MP3 player with 1GB of memory. It's supposed to hold about 500 songs, but in reality, it holds about 250 MP3's. The 500 song estimate is usually based on wma files or MP4's. They take up about half the space of an MP3. I'm very happy with it and see no need to purchase an iPod for hundreds of dollars. The only thing that I do not like is that it runs on a "AAA" battery that gets changed relatively often. The kids have Memorex players with less storage, but it's just fine for them. I found them at Target for $33 and they come in cool colors and are super easy to operate. We looked at the Disney one when we bought those, but opted for the Memorex. They are charged when you connect them to the computer - very nice. My husband has an RCA player that does not have the radio tuner but is expandable - very important for him since he downloads books. I'd say, go for inexpensive. The Memorex players are perfect for my kids and they have done a great job taking care of them. Thay have become the new favorite toys. :)
