Moving to the Westside

My family and I are planning to move to the Westside because we can afford a much nicer home over there. The problem is, we don't know that much about the neighborhoods. Can anyone suggest a really good neiborhood or warn us of any really bad ones? We have been looking in the Northwest heights/ Taylor Ranch area- any info?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you everyone so much for your responses! They were very helpful! We have a house on a contingency on the sale of our current home. It is located just south of Montano, But well north of Dellyne in the Taylor Ranch neighborhood. We love the Mariposa park and the TR community center! We like the neighborhood because it is a little older, but still new enough that we don't have to worry about Lead paint! We also had viewed Ventana Ranch, and loved it, but it was too far from my husbands job and school. I really do appreciate all of the advise!

My wife and I just moved to Ventana Ranch -- LOVE IT!.. We met all of our neighbors right away and Heidi got involved with the Mom's Club.

Hi, I live in Ventana Ranch... My neighborhood is awesome, we live at a cul-da-sac, and all my neighbors have kids, and we always get together outside (when warm) My neighbors right next to me is moving really soon and is going to sell his house, he is in the military..

Hi K.!! Congratulations on your daughter!! I don't know the price range of houses in the area but my cousin is also a SAHM and she lives on the west side in Ventana Ranch. The area as I know is very comfortable and also nice!! The housing areas are also nice and with schools, shopping, and whatever else you need is convienent! Just thought that might help!! Good luck in finding what you are looking for!! Hope that I helped to some extent!! Take care....S.

K.,
I would avoid any area south of Dellyne...that is one major intersection south of Montano...you can get into some older nieghborhoods in that area with a less appealing crowd. Most areas North of Montano are pretty nice. It will be a while before your child is in school, but once you get into the Rio Ranch area...north of Intel, you no longer are in APS district and Rio Ranco is supposed to have a really great school system and the schools are newer and nicer as well. Hope that helps.
