Moving to the Illesheim/Ansbach Area

The area is small there are some playgroups when you get here you will want to go to ACS and they can give you all of the information on playgroups. You can contact ACS now and ask for a welcome packet and that could give you a heads up on what there is on post.

We have lived in Illisheim for 4 yrs now. Here on Stork Barracks they have the wiggles and giggles playgroup. The daycare is also good. I'm not sure about the Ansbach, Katterbach area. I have a 7 yr old son and a 3 yr old daughter. I hope this helps.

There is a playgroup on post. If you are a DODDS employee or gov't civilian, you have to live offpost and I highly recommend finding the local german kindergarten and attending their playgroups and getting to know your German neighbors. If you are a soldier or a spouse of a soldier, it is highly likely to the point of just accept it that you have to live on post. A suggestion for you is to join Military Wives in Germany on Yahoo groups. There are roughly a half dozen or so families in that group that are online and we can help you get used to and prepared for Ansbach.
