I don't know if you can afford something in North Tacoma but that is the place to buy or rent a home. You might also want to look at University Place and Fircrest, those are great neighborhoods. Stay away from South and East Tacoma, scarry! I live in NE Tacoma (Brown's Point) which is closer to Federal Way; it's a safe neighborhood but on the decline. We do have awesome elementary schools here though, Cresent Heights and Brown's Point. I take my kids to Ruston Way (North Tacoma's waterfront) often in the Spring/Summer to ride bikes and play. I am also 24, my son is 4 and my daughter just turned 3 so if you would like to meet up once you're settled, let me know!

Welcome E.! I am E. as well and live in Tacoma not too far from the mall. There's lots of great parks for younger kids here & always fun things to do near the water front! The zoo is really nice as well and has a new kid play area & the carousel just opened. My boys love it! Feel free to email when you get settled! ^__^
