I need help!!!!
We will be moving to San Antonio this summer, but we have no idea where to live. First we would like to find out what school district is best, and then we can start looking for a house in that area. Can someone please recommend an ISD, as well as elementary, middle and high school? I also need recommendations for pediatric doctor and dentist, orthodontist, adult dentist and doctor, OB/GYN and hair dresser. Any other helpful information is welcome!
My husband and I visited San Antonio this weekend, looking at houses in different areas, but I'm so overwhelmed. San Antonio is a big city, and there're so many place to choose from.
We would like to live north of 1604, and preferably in a community with a pool.
Thank you in advance for your help!
A.

Will you both be working - if so what part of town? To me, Living north of 1604 could be a traffic nightmare if you have to commute.

North of 1604 is a traffic nightmare, NIGHTMARE!
There is no such district as Northwest ISD. Don't go to a doctor that delivers at NorthEast Baptist Hospital (which I think someone recommended). YUCK!
Seven Oaks Womens is the BEST OB/GYN office EVER!

NEISD, Northeast ISD is the best. You will pay very high taxes in this district but it is the best.
Everyone likes Stone Oak, it is a HUGE neighborhood.
Rogers Ranch is great (it is divided with school districts, Northside and Northeast, I'd stay on thed Northeast ISD side). If you are looking for brand new houses, north of 1604 is where you need to look, depending on your price range.
Judy Dalrymple is the best realtor around, she can help you!
Good luck and WELCOME to San Antonio!

North 1604 has really nice houses and is a nice area in general. The only complaint i have is that the traffic can be horrible on 1604 as well as 410! I would recommend moving into the Northside ISD, Judson ISD or Schertz-Cibolo Universal City ISD. Universal City, Converse, Schertz, and Cibolo have some really beautiful houses for great prices and I love the school.
(Zip codes 78109, 78148, 78154, 78254) are just a few areas I am familiar with and love!

There are lots of great pediatricians off of 1604 and Stone Oak.

OB/GYN i would recommend Dr. Childress at Institute for Womens Health at 410 and Starcrest! ###-###-####! I love him...he delivered all of my children although he has retired from deliveries and he still does GYN. Good luck!

The best schools are in the Stone Oak area (NEISD) (specifically Hardy Oak or Stone Oak Elementary, and middle schools Bush and Lopez and High Schools Regan and Johnson) and Alamo Heights (Alamo Heights ISD). Alamo Heights is an older part of town with really cute craftsman style homes from the 30s and 40s. It is closer to down town. Stone Oak is at 281 and 1604 and is really family friendly and most of the subdivisions have at least one pool. HOWEVER, the traffic here is truly awful during morning and evening rush hour. There is a newer area called Alamo Ranch, which is further west. I hear the schools there are good also, but don't know much about it otherwise.
We live in Stone Oak and really love our schools, doctors, gyms, parks and shopping but I wish we could avoid the traffic.

I moved to San Antonio two years ago and moved into the medical center area. I love being there. The school district is Northside. I love it because it's very diverse, because doctors from all over the world practice in the area, the schools have Indian, Chinese, Vietanamese, Hispanic and European children. You would have hundreds of doctors and dentist to choose from in this area. You would be 15 minutes from Downtown (for all the festivals) and 15 minutes from Six Flags. I've heard horror stories about the traffic out 1604. Northside and Northeast district have Dual Language programs if you have little ones that will be going into kinder, that would be great. (I teach in Northeast).
Good luck with the move.
