Hello! We will be moving to Fort Worth for my husband's new job . We have our eye on the Heritage neighborhood. But still looking. I have heard good things about the neighborhood and my husband's office will be near there. Any feedback? We will be house hunting next week. I'm also going to be touring Barbara Gordon and Clariden schools. Any feedback positive or negative about either school would be appreciated! Or have a suggestion for a different neighborhood worth checking out? We are looking in the $200K range (which we have found plenty of in heritage) we want a neighborhood that has lots of young families, community pool, community park, etc. Hubby's office is on Alliance. Driving kids to their schools is no problem, I do now anyway-and we can't afford Southlake or Colleyville. ;-) I have a 7 year old daughter and a 3 year old son. Thanks!!! Oh and when we go house hunting we want to take the kids somewhere fun to play at some point during the weekend. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your replies! We spent a weekend in Fort Worth recently. We had a great time! I toured both Montessori schools and like Barbara Gordon Montessori the best, it reminds me a lot of her current school. I will be submitting her application and moving forward with that process. We also found a house! It is in heritage and we close at the end of the month! While we were there we swam in the hotel pool everyday and the kids loved that! We had a sitter take the kids to the Fort Worth Zoo while we went house hunting all day. They had fun there. We also hit the Rainforest Cafe. That was a hit too!

Awesome area....so many new schools, restraunts, shopping. I have friends who live in heritage and they love it! Lots of playgrounds and swimming. Easy drive to Alliance. I think you will love it! Good luck.

I live in Heritage, we hardly notice the trains. However, if you're bothered by noise, know that there are train tracks on the east side and Alliance Airport on the west. We're in Trinity (not Cape Cod), and while I hear the planes & trains sometimes they're not so loud or frequent to be bothersome. We get a lot of complaints on our community website from people in Clear Fork & West Fork about the planes though, apparantly they are really loud over there. Everybody is really friendly. The pools are crowded the first month or so, but after that it's fine. We are also close (walking distance) to the new Y, which is nice. Lots of parks & trails, good neighborhood schools, lots of kids playing outside - we've been here 5 years and we love it, especially now that so much is on our side of the tracks - crossing 377 can be a beating.

Look at Trophy Club as well. We are just up the street and Northwest ISD are excellent schools. Very family oriented and Denton County is cheaper than Tarrant County. Drive will be the same for hubby.

Have you checked in Grapevine or Euless that goes to GCISD schools? There are some areas and the houses in Euless should be less than Grapevine with the benefit of the GCISD schools, and then no private school tuition!

Heritage neighborhood is great. We used to live close to there. One thing to keep in mind when finding a house west of highway 377 is that there is a VERY active traintrack that runs along 377. Luckily, you'd have everything you needed (shopping, husbands work, schools) on "your side of the tracks" and wouldn't have to mess with the long waits on trains too much...think about train noise if you look east side of the Heritage neighborhood, think about plane noise if you look on the west side of the neighborhood. (I'd take plane over train anyday). I think that Heritage is the nicest neighborhood over there, and will be nice and close to husband's work. All Keller ISD elementary schools are great, have heard mixed reviews on some of the intermediate/middle schools that Heritage feeds into. Another nice Keller nieghborhood is Hidden Lakes, you can sometimes find homes for low $200k. But, it is in far east Keller, almost Southlake.

Fun things for kids...there are a couple of indoor jumphouse places. Fort Worth has lots of options, stockyards, zoo, museums.

Hi S.,
I live 5 minutes from Heritage and my kids go to Clariden School.
This is our 3rd year at Clariden and we LOVE it. My son is 6 and my daughter will be 4 in a month. They are both doing great in school. We started my son at Barbara Gordon before we moved him to Clariden. The faculty is great and we found the school to be, honestly, an extension from home.
We love the fact that the parents are very involved (so you will get to know them well, if you want), and it goes all the way to high school (so the kids can build their friendships). They are very open for other cultures and NO BULLYING allowed!
Anyway... if you want to get more details, or have more specific question give me a call...

Check out Marshall Ridge, a Meritage development on 377 and Keller Haslet. It's a new development with a new elementary school being built in the neighborhood. Lots of young kids. In 2009 it was the best selling residential development in all of Dallas/ Fort Worth. You'll get stopped less trying to cross train tracks than Heritage and you'll officially be in the city of Keller so you can use the Keller library and get resident prices at the Rec center. If you decide to tour the neighborhood msg me so I can give you my last name and if you buy here we'll both receive referral bonuses!
