Our family is moving to the Blue springs, MO area. We are completely new to the area and are looking for a place to rent before we buy. Just looking for some info\advice on the area. We actually found a place to rent in oak grove that is reasonable for a temporary home. So if anyone knows anything about these two areas please share. Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

I have a friend in Blue Springs- about 45 minutes away from me (I am on the Kansas side).

Blue Springs has some of the best schools in the area and is rapidly growing. Everything you could want is there- great shopping (Adam's Point), beautiful parks (Lake Jacomo) and super friendly people.

For houses, look in the Waterfield area, Stone Canyon and Stonebridge. There are many price levels, from $180 - 500K.

Good luck with your move! You will love Blue Springs. (And Kansas City in general. This is a great place to raise a family!)

Hi M. J,

I'm the friend Julie S. was writing about. Blue Springs/Oak Grove is one of the fastest growing areas in the KC Metro area. I live further south in the metro area (over an hour from Oak Grove). My parents live out that way in a small town. They just moved there last fall...my mom loves the small town, country life.

What kind of info do you want? Are you looking for schools? Culture? Activities?

Feel free to PM me or put in your SWH.

Welcome to the area!

Oak Grove and Grain Valley areas are growing so much, more of a small town feel, but Blue Springs offers everything all other cities have in way of shopping. Great schools, churches, events, sports etc. Blue Springs is only 15 - 30 minutes to Lee's Summit, Kansas City, with tons of cultural events. Theater, dining, clubs, symphony, Sprint Center for concerts, events. You will be minutes from Independence Center (Macy's, Dillards, Sears). Minutes from Royals Baseball Stadium and Chiefs Football Stadium (which are next to each other), World's of Fun, Ocean's of Fun for theme parks, and we have a Zoo.

Several lakes for fishing, boating, sight seeing. Further on into City, Country Club Plaza for Upscale shopping, dining.

On the Kansas side of State Line, Johnson County within an hour drive or less, also upscale areas (Nordstrom, VonMaur, Macy's). KC, Kansas has the Speedway for Nascar racing and "The Legends", more like "outlet" shopping. Nebraska Furniture Mart is a destination, Brand new IKEA is opening this fall.
Sporting KC, soccer. Schliterbahn, tallest water ride (17 stories) just opened. We have Bass Pro and Cabela's, T-Bones (minor league) baseball.

KC International Airport is about 40 minutes from Blue Springs. There is ton's of history in Kansas City area, Liberty Memorial World War 1 Museum, Union Station, Harry S Truman Library.

Enjoy your new home and friendly people! I could have gone on and on.......

My daughter lived in KC for 2 years. I know little about it but when she was moving there we asked friends who had family there for suggestions. I believe Oak Grove was on the suggested list.

I am going to dig up a friend who lives in KC who is a member here and see if she will sign on and give you the low down. :)
