I would call the Chamber of Commerce and ask them if they know of someone who could help you with the daycare and potential employment in the area. Do research on Davison online. It'll probably give you lots of good ideas also. The daycare decision might have to wait until you get settled in so you can find one close to your job or home. Hard to do that one any other way. It must be convenient. I have very good luck with networking. I think most people are happy to help someone moving to your area. Best of luck and be safe!!

My stepmother is actually from Michigan & my dad is out there w/her for a few weeks. I'll talk to him tonight & find out for you.

Okay, so I spoke w/my dad tonight & they are up by Lake Superior. He said that Davison is closer to Indiana so what you may want to do is check out the weather in Flint, that is closer to Davison. He said he's not sure exactly what the weather is like by there, but where he's at 4th of July weekend is usually the warmest it gets and then it gets cooler. He said it is very nice there though & that you may want to contact the Chamber of Commerce, which I think on of the other Mama's alread suggested. Best of luck to you in ur venture!

Sorry, I can't help you with the other stuff, but as far as winter clothes go, you are going to need at least 2 jackets. Your needs in late Oct. will be different than in January. A really thick, good quality fleece jacket or fleece lined jacket will be good to start with. As early as late September, the mornings can get down to 48 degrees. The afternoons, though warm up to around 60 or 70. By Halloween, it'll be pretty cold- you'll have to get creative with Halloween costumes if your children will be trick or treating. My kids wear several layers of clothing under their costume. I'm in Mass., and it's not uncommon for it to be 30 degrees when trick or treating.

winter clothing needed.. um layers long sleeves, sweatshirts.. then get into the snow gear you will need jackets, snow pants, snow boots, mittens, hats... warm socks.. then getting into the different fleece clothing (best to have 2 coats and multiple mittens and hats cause when they are wet and you are going out again best to be able to change them).. oh you are in for a climate change from south to north... best of luck with your move, as far as online cheaper in the summer idk, llbean is good... good luck and safe travels!

So I grew up in the Detroit area. Not sure what daycares are up where you will be. MI economy is BAD no one will respond online. Start going to places as soon as you get there to apply or check to see if they have your resume. Don't bother buying winter stuff online. The stores up there will start caring it in August. Also coats, boots and stuff will probably only last one season. So go cheap. Target stuff not so good. Walmart & KMart boots are good. Coats if the stitching is strong and very warm it should be good. If you want the chance for the coat to last more than a season i would go to Kohls or somewhere like that. It can be colder than you can imagine.... Good luck.

I just moved from the Indiana/Michigan state line to SC! lol. You have missed the "winter" sales. They usually happen at the end of winter/beginning of spring.

Just be sure to have 2 of everything if you are going to be playing out in the snow much. Also, the schools usually require you to keep a pair of snow boots, snow pants, etc AT the school for recess, so there is no chance of forgetting to bring them. Keep that in mind when you are buying things for your son. Don't forget the warmer pajamas, also. I don't think anyone has mentioned that one. Layers are better that big heavy shirts. But, have a couple heavy things on hand for the days that temps dip below 0-10 degrees. Also, get some flannel lined jeans or some thermal underwear to put under pants.

Stock up on lotions........winters get really dry up there. Also, make sure you have a full pantry and a deep freezer also comes in handy for the occasional snow storm that creates impassible roads (it doesn't happen every year, but it can........count on at least 2-4 heavy snows per season).

Snow shovels are also a must. I always like to buy them cheap and replace them when needed. They are lighter and snow is HEAVY! ;)
