Movies for Date Night
My husband and I are very busy people. We both work full time jobs and when we are home we spend a lot of time with the kids. We don't have a lot of extra money to spend and are often very short on babysitters for Date Nights. When we do find the time for a Date Night it usually involves putting the kids to bed a little earlier than usual and curling up on the living room floor with a bowl of popcorn and a movie. We have the same tastes in movies for the most part so it is usually easy to find one we can both be interested in but we have been looking for some older films lately. We both grew up in the 80's and would love to walk down memory lane with some of the older movies. What movies do you remember loving in the 80's? It can't be too obscure because I will need to Netflix these.

OMG -all of the John Hughes movies, "Breakfast Club," "16 Candles," "Planes,Trains and Automobiles" -"Pretty in Pink" was okay but never my favorite. Also -"Caddyshack" and "National Lampoon's Vacation"! "Top Gun" and if you're into horror at all (I'm not really, but I definitely enjoyed some of the 80s classics back then) -"Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Friday the 13th."
Here's a list of others -some your husband may be into, and some not, but they're 80s films that I love:
A Fish Called Wanda is one of my all-time faves! HILARIOUS! And "Raising Arizona" is my favorite comedy of all time -it really doesn't get much funnier.
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Coal Miner's Daughter
Crimes and Misdemeanors
Beverly Hills Cop
Coming to America
Terms of Endearment
The Last Emporer
On Golden Pond
The 80s Rocky's and the Rambo franchise -if you're in the mood for it!
The Big Chill
Peggy Sue Got Married
Back to the Future
Good Morning Vietnam
Dead Poet's Society
When Harry Met Sally
The Empire Strikes Back -the BEST Star Wars movie and it ushered in the 80s.
Stand By Me
Empire of the Sun
Places in the Heart
The Color Purple
A Room With a View
An Officer and A Gentleman
Tootsie, Romancing the Stone, Raiders of the Lost Ark -the trilogy,

Anything by John Hughes encapsulates the 80's! (Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Uncle Buck, Ferris Bueller, Home Alone, etc.)
Also: "Say Anything," "She's Having a Baby," "The Sure Thing," "Amadeus," "Tootsie," "Ghostbusters," "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "War Games," "Mr. Mom."
Or, if you like your comedies a bit more intellectual, go with "Raising Arizona" and "A Fish Called Wanda."

Hmmm...that's all I remember from the 80's! Don't forget that TV series are also great for date night movie watching...we love to put in a season and watch the whole thing in one sitting! Entourage, The Sopranos, True Blood, Mad Men, Sex and the City, Band of Brothers, Dexter, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy...all very good!
