Hi D.,

I also like a hooded sweatshirt and pants, you can find pink felt and cut it out into circles (grey bigger than pink and then fold inside out, fill with a little filler)for ears and some hot glued for the tummy. I would say grey or even white would make a cute mouse! A painted face will make all the difference. If it is for a girl, a large hodded sweatshirt with white tights can work too!
If you want something more elaborate, I woudl suggest you go to a store like Jo Ann's or Michaels and ask in the fabric section, they usually have fake fur that is not very expensive and they can suggest what to do, they may even have some patterns if you are good at putting it together.
Hope it helps!

I dont know where you live, but I know about the Kids Closet Consignment sale coming up next week in Lee's Summit-- over 300 moms are consigning. I know they take costumes year round... you might check it out! 913 NE Colbern Road in Lee's Summit... March 5-7th!

I second the gray sweatsuit idea...I think it would be the easiest and least stressful route.

You could get a big piece of pink felt for the tummy and you don't even have to sew...I think it's called Stitch Witchery, but it's a product that you stick to one side of the fabric and then you can iron it together.

i absolutely S. the grey sweatsuit idea - quick before they don't sell sweats anymore since it's springtime! lol. they might even be marked down this time of year. (and look in the boys section if you don't see grey ones in the girls') my sister had this costume for halloween once and it was adorable - my mom got the cutest little ears and whiskers mask, not sure where she found it. but i bet you could either make one easily like someone said, or maybe find one at a party/costume shop. good luck! you're lucky, thank goodness she doesn't need a more complicated costume!

I'd start with a gray sweat-suit from Wal-Mart, you could get one with a hood and stitch/glue the ear pattern onto it, or attached them to a headband. Pattern here: http://sewing.about.com/od/hallowee1/ss/catmouseears.htm

Rip a little of the rear seam and add a tail.

Use fabric or fabric paint to make a pink tummy on the front.
