i was wondering if anyone knows anything about working with floral tape? i found a fun, super-cheap little project for my kids to make mothers day gifts for their grandmas. they're making "flower pens" by attaching artificial flowers to pens using floral tape. they're turning out really cute, and my oldest daughter is making decoupaged "flower pots" with tissue paper and baby formula cans. :) the only problem is, the floral tape makes the pens really sticky when you use them. is there any way to make them less sticky without affecting the tape holding the pens together?

What can I do next?

after you wrap the pens with the tape, cover the tape with ribbon & hot glue the end.

I wonder if you pull the tape a little tighter as you wrap around the pen so that the tape stretches. Maybe that would make it less sticky. You wouldn't use as much. Not sure though.
Thanks for the idea!! I am going to get the stuff to make some.

Hi A.,

I know you already put floral tape on the pens, but how about removing it or just going over it with colorful duct tape. The actual brand called Duck tape sells many colors and some have decorations on it as well. A roll of it was under $3. (I just happened to see this tape at a hardware store called Mennards while shopping yesterday.)

I like your pen idea!

My co worker makes flower pens all the time for the reception desk at work. The floral tape she uses she says isn't very sticky but it sticks great to itself. So I guess it might depend on the type that you got. I don't know really what she uses. Other than it is green and she most likely got it from Jo Ann's or Michael's.
