I am looking for infomation and a mother's view on the medication Medadate for ADHD. My sone is now 7. He has been on Adderall XR for about 3 yrs, but it no longer seems to be affective. He is currently on 20mg the dosage was up to 30mg at one point but my son was to much like a zombie so I took him back down to the 20mg. But it seem to not be affective. I talk to his Dr about changing medicine for him. His Dr said that Medadate would be good for him. I looked up information on the medicine. BUt I also wanted to hear from everyday mothers on what the like and dislike about the medication. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

So funny I should read your question today!! We just took our 7 year old off of Adderal yesterday. He was so spaced out I couldn't stand it any longer. We haven't replaced it with any med's and so far (2 days) he seems to be doing great. Before the adderal we had him on concerta and it worked great until he became "immune" to it. His therapist, Dr. Mccarthy, in Myrtle Beach told us that adderal and Concerta were basically the same med. Adderal was just a lot stronger than concerta. I'm not familiar with the med you mentioned. Check into the concerta it was great for us. Let me know how things are going- I'm always interested in adhd.

I have a ten year old son who was diagnosed with ADHD when he waas 7. He's been on Straterra, Aderall, Concerta and now Focalin XR. He has been on Focalin for the past year and a half and it works wonderfully. He has no side effects whatsoever. He takes 10mg, 3 times a day. That's the only drawback. I know your inquiry was about Medadate, but I just thought this may help you also. I have also heard wonderful things about the ADHD patch. I also have an ADHD & LD blog that you may be interested in visiting. The web address is: www.adhdguide.blogspot.com. Best wishes for you and your son.

My son is ADHD and takes concerta. He seems to do well with it. I think it just depends on the individual child. We had to try different medications. I have never heard of medadate.I would trust his doctor. Is your child in first grade? If he is having trouble in school he may need a 504 plan. I will be glad to answer any questions on that.

I am hoping by now you have had lots of responses. I am thrilled with Metadate CD. My son was on Adderall XR as well and started to have some backward responses after about 1-1/2 years. Very dark personality started to show. He was taking 40 mg of Adderall and is now taking the same of Metadate. My son is 8 and doing fantastic. If you wish to talk further you can e-mail me at ____@____.com luck to you.
