Mosquito Problem
Hello mamas!
I have been waking up with bites almost daily for over a week now and I am tired of it! The mosquitos seem to follow me everywhere! I find them in the house AND in the car. I am sick of itching. PLEASE HELP!
How do you get rid of mosquitos IN THE HOUSE? I can't figure out how they are getting in, why they keep showing up, or how to get rid of them. I do not want to put on insect repellent all the time - it is sticky, oily, and smelly. An inexpensive GREEN solution would be ideal. Vinegar? Alcohol? Peroxide? Anything like that work?
Before you ask: no, there is NO standing water around. I do not live near a lake, pond, or otherwise. The birdbath is broken and has NO water in it.
***UPDATE***
NO, they are not fleas or bedbugs. I have SEEN mosquitos flying and have killed several (slapped them on my arm/leg/etc). I asked for GREEN solutions. I am not willing to spray any kind of poison in the air of my home or burn citronella candles - I have a young son and I am not willing to compromise his (or my) breathing. Both of those products require outdoor use or a lot of ventalatiion. I will try the Listerine and vitamins. Thanks for those suggestions! Keep 'em coming!

So What Happened?™
Thanks so much for all the tips. I tried a couple of them and something worked because I am no longer getting bitten. I am so relieved! I thought for awhile there that I was going to need to get that bat! ;)

put a bowl of some bubble solutions in different rooms in the house and if the mosquito's land in it they can't get out. I do this on my table on the deck and every morning there are usually a couple of them and other bugs dead in it. You can also use water and dish soap but I have found that the bubble stuff works better for some reason.
Good Luck

Well my question is do you have plants sitting in water? if you do empty them and clean the container. they could be hatching in the house. empty anything holding water near the house since standing water is the normal breeding grounds. Otherwise you will keep getting more and more. Me the little buggers just love me no matter what i do. haven't tried the listerine idea yet but i think i may. also sweep and mop your floors just incase it is fleas. There are many types of fleas and if you ever get mice in your house you can get fleas without having a pet inside.

Try taking Vitamin B1. Its seems to really help.
I also ditto the comment that are you sure its mosquitos? You should check your house for fleas and bed bugs. Pull off the sheet and mattress pad and look very closely at your mattress. Both of theses creatures are extremely small and cause real problems.

They could be coming in through your windows &/or screens. Look closely at where the screens meet the window. Oftentimes there is a small gap & that is where they come in.

Mosquito Spray...Worth a try
I was at a deck party awhile back, and the bugs were having a ball biting everyone. A man at the party sprayed the lawn and deck floor with Listerine, and the little demons disappeared. The next year I filled a 4-ounce spray bottle and used it around my seat whenever I saw mosquitoes. And voila! That worked as wel l. It worked at a picnic where we sprayed the area around the food table, the children's swing area, and the standing water nearby. During the summer, I don't leave home without it.....Pass it on.
OUR FRIEND'S COMMENTS: I tried this on my deck and around all of my doors. It works - in fact, it killed them instantly. I bought my bottle from Target and it cost me $1.89. It really doesn't take much, and it is a big bottle, too; so it is not as expensive to use as the can of Bug-spray you buy that doesn't last 30 minutes. So, try this, please. It will last a couple of days. Don't spray directly on a wood door (like your front door), but spray around the frame. Spray around the window frames, and even inside the dog house.

Well, you probably already know that dryer sheets aren't green.
If you have mosquitoes, there has to be standing water somewhere. Are there any drains in or around your house that are slow and not used much? Floor drains can hold water. A small puddle under a leaky drain, or even a rain gauge, can have enough water for mosquitoes to breed. Also, clogged gutters (on your house or on the street) can be a problem. I'd also look into storm sewers nearby. There might be standing water underground, which you can't see. In that case, I have no idea what the solution might be.
I agree, spray is probably worse than the problem you'd use it for. The best approach is to take away breeding areas, and keep them from getting into the house. Check the window screens for even small holes. I find at my house that the house has settled some and the doors don't fit tightly, which makes it impossible to seal all the cracks. It's been a wetter than usual year, so the mosquitoes are more numerous. hth

Some people are more prone to bites than others. I don't know if it is a skin scent or what. I have four boys and a husband. Only myself and one of my boys is prone to mosquito bites. We can have what seems like hundreds and they get none (and we all are in the same place).
I agree with the skin so soft and the dryer sheets. I plan to check to see what other suggestions you receive since mosquitos like me a lot too!
Have a good day!

Do you see the mosquitoes or could it be fleas?
Yes I've heard dryer sheets work so I would thing that using dryer sheets for your bed sheets would work too. Also Avon's Skin So Soft works for Mosquitoes, it would be better than repellent.
I do know that if you take a B vitamin (I can't remember which B so I take a multi) they don't bother you I haven't had a bite since I started taking them.
