As a suggestion, place one drop of Lavender Essential oil neat (by itself, not mixed with anything else) on each of the bite marks daily, every hour, if possible.

Try Kids Afterbite- it works great to stop the itch for my 4 & 6 year old. I usually pick it up at Walmart. I use the adult Afterbite for myself. BTW, I would Not use the product around the eye. I would just apply cold compresses around the eye area. Good luck.

I would recommend Calamine lotion. It works for us ! :-)

Try underarm deodorant. It helps. It has the be the stick kind, not the spray or roll on. But believe it or not it helps. Obviously you can't put it in her eye, but the rest of her. Just rub it on like normal.

I use a product called "After Bite". I found it at a store on the campgrounds the last time we went camping. It works great. I have used it myself on itchy mosquito bites and it takes the itch away right away.

Benadryl / cortizone
I just read somewhere that if you take a banana and peel it, rub the inside of the peel on the bite. I have never tried it but it is worth a try!

I think Band Aid brand makes a clear anti-itch gel that's really effective. I tried to find it but couldn't, so I'm not sure it's Band Aid. It comes in a vertical tube, has pictures of poison ivy and mosquitoes on the front and has red lettering on top. I got it at the local pharmacy/ It is the most effective thing I've ever used.

Use unscented solid anti perspirant. It dries up the fluid in the swollen lump which is what causes the itching and it's safe to use. Just remember to keep it away from her eyes - that would be worse than the itch!

I carry one along for every outing and we never have the itch from bites.

Try a product called SARNA. It is extremely soothing, you can find it in the first aid aisle. Good luck!

try cleaning the bites with peroxide and then put bacitracin on them to keep them from getting infected.

My son and I are allergic to mosquito bites and agree that some of the Aveeno products don't work. Aveeno makes an anti-itch cream that does work. It comes in a small bottle so I keep 2 - 3 bottles on hand all the time, one of which I keep in my pocketbook just in case my son or I do get bit. I can't take Benedryl because I am allergic to that too, but my son isn't, he takes it orally as well as puts it on the bites. Try the Aveeno Anti-itch on your daughter. It's hard to find, the only place I have been able to find it is Wal-Mart and Walgreens.

Witch Hazel is what they used on me as a kid when I swelled up all over from an alergic reaction to a huge number of bites. They bandaged me with gauze soaked in witch hazel.

You could try childrens liquid Benadryl, After Bite for Kids (doesn't sting as much as adult dose. Also you can clean the bite with Witch Hazel and then apply a cortizone cream. I try everything -- my family seems to get eaten alive by these mosquitos and then my 7 year old and myself have an allergic reaction to them and it's just awful. I think the After Bite works the best. You just have to refrain from scratching for about 5 minutes after applying the cream and then you should be ok for a little while.

Coritzone or benedryll cream should be ok. My pedia said we can use that on our toddler and I think I read that your daughter is 4 yrs old correct?

Burt's Bees has an excellent natural bug spray for children which I use for my 8 month old and it smells awesome and does the trick to keep mosquitos at bay. They also have an a spray/natural ointment to stop the itch. You can usually find it Harmons or CVS/ Target/ ShopRite/ Loews.

My ped suggested a low concentration (2% or less) cortazone cream fr itchy bug bites. It seems to help my daughter, I do use it on her face sometimes but wouldn't put it near her eyes.

I went to an out door party and forgot to take my repellent with me. Came home all bitten up. I used Calamine loction to stop the itching..
For repellent I use "lemon Eucalyptus insect repellent".
Plant based and it works up to 6 hours. Repels both mosquitoes and deer ticks.

I recently heard the same thing about the deoderant!

I have always used toothpaste. But it has to be the real paste kind, like the original Crest or Colgate.

Stick antiperspirant, does work, if applied soon after the bite, I am not sure if it works at a later time, but sure is worth a try. It really does work!
Also, I mist Listerine or a generic brand like it around the area and on people, including myself, and it does help to keep the bugs away. Not completely, but enough to make a difference! Both are cheap, and safer than some other remedies.

Use white vinegar. My family has used this for several generations and it takes the sting/itch out. And, its super cheat. Good luck.

Just the other day my neighbor, who is a nurse, was telling me what she does for bites. She mixes baking soda into a thick paste and puts it on the bite or sting. She says it pulls everything out. Let it dry and leave it on for as long as possible. She swears by it. I have not yet had the opportunity to try it.
Hope she stops itching soon, poor thing.

calamime (sp?) lotion is what i use on my girls. per our experience, it stops the itching. if not, the ped. can give you a rx for an ointment. i can't remember the name of it but was given by our ped. that helped more. but i was more comfortable using the calamime

I usually rub calamine lotion (pink lotion) on my son. You can find it in any drug store and it seems to help him. Hope it helps your daughter too.

I've tried all of these things (except for the banana peal)...the only one that my son says works is Benadryl cream.

Calamine or 'Caladryl' lotion or cream. There is also this pen shaped thing called 'Afterbite' -- but I never actually found that it worked that well.

we use Gold Bond medicated anti-itch cream. I am a magnet for those buggers myself and always get bitten, and that works wonders for me. There's also topical bendadryl that you could apply on her. If you keep it refrigerated it's especially soothing for bites.

Believe it or not, one of the best ways to stop the swelling and the itching is to apply a small bit of toothpaste on the bite! And, an added benefit of using toothpaste, is you don't have to worry about a baby or a small child putting it in the mouth!
