I am pregnant with my third child. I have just started to get morning sickness. I had it with both of my other pregnancies and am hoping to find something that helps relieve the nausea this time around. Not looking forward to 3 months of this again! Any moms found anything that works?

I never did find anything that really worked, but i did go buy some of those wrist bands that you can wear to help. You can get them at any pharmacy i believe and they didnt take the nausea away, but they really did help at least make it tollerable for me to get through the day. Also i ate a lot of saltine crackers and sprite. Hope you find something that helps!!

My experience was to never have a too empty or too full of a tummy. Snacking through the day instead of big meals helped. Congrats and good luck!

Ginger pills were the only thing that worked for me with my second preg. You can buy them pretty much at any store. The nausea went away within minutes. I even gave my 9 y/o niece one when she said she felt like throwing up and it made her feel better in like 5 mins. Hope it helps you to.

Try some AkMak crackers. They're even drier than saltines, if such a thing is imaginable. Also, get a chewable vitamin if you can, those are much easier on the stomach.

Finally, at least until the nausea passes, eat what sounds like it's going to make you the least sick, even if it seems crazy. With my first I swear I ate pad thai 5 nights/week because it was all I wanted, and it was the only thing that didn't make me ill. I also started a lot of days with a tuna fish sandwich (not too many, don't worry, I'm aware of mercury), because that was what sounded good. I never got really sick with the things my body was telling me to eat, just the things I thought I "should" eat. Good luck!

Vitiamin B6 helped me when my second pregnancy brought bad sickness and of course trying to eat often with protein when possible. You've got lots of great answers...hope you feel good enough to read them...maybe a good friend read and summerize...its no fun to read about being sick when you are sick! :) Congrats on #3!

There is nothing scientific about this, but it worked for me...sucking on peppermints...like the star light mints...I always had one on hand...really seemed to help a lot ( for me) I know they sell specialty suckers at Maternity stores called preggy-pops ( ?) Good luck!

Vitamin B6 helped me. Raspberry Tea helped me so much. Fennel Seed Tea, is super helpful. (whenever you have heartburn, it helps relieve that too!) I ate a ton of watermelon. I heard that it helped with nausea, so I tried it. My goodness, it helped!. I drank peppermint tea with honey. I sucked on Altoids, or anything with REAL peppermint in it. (not candy) I second the mama, that said to eat a little before you get up. I would a couple of saltines and wait 15 minutes. If I got up with an empty stomach, it was awful! Ginger works for some, but I don't like ginger, so I never tested it. I would NOT suggest eating something greasy, like someone suggested. That's one of the biggest foods to avoid, for morning sickness!

I had morning sickness all day long until 20 weeks with all of my pregnancies. Crystalized ginger worked the best, as well as never letting my stomach get empty, so I ate a lot of crackers and toast, too.

I always kept saltines and 7 up next to my nightstand, and would eat a little before I got out of bed. I have heard of people using peppermint oil or eating something with mint in it. Havent tried it because I dont like mint! Good luck!

I am on pregnancy #4 and with the first three my nausea was pretty mild but I found that apples were the best remedy and saltines did not work at all! Then came #4 and "OH MY" was I sick. For 5 hours every afternoon I couldn't move I was so nauseated! My usual Apples didn't work, my doc prescribed an anti-nausea med. - very little help. Ultimately after a month of feeling like I was going to die I had a Coke and bingo it was the only thing that helped. I am not a soda drinker at all! I don't even remember why I tried one to begin with but all I can say is if I have a fully leaded Coke (other colas do not work as well) I am no longer nauseated. I usually keep one soda all day and sip on it whenever I feel the nausea coming on. I also have found that minty gum works.

In short, I think it is different for everyone because none of the typical remedies like crackers, ginger, etc. worked for me but anything is worth a try.

Good luck!

one thing that helped me was to eat a bowl of oatmeal before bed. It kept my stomach full enough to not be totally empty when I woke up.

Sea Bands!!! Get them at the drugstore. They're for motion sickness, but they use pressure points on your wrist to help alleviate the nausea. They're ugly and they won't take it away completely, but they made the difference for me in not being able to get off the sofa and at least being able to function and deal with my toddler.

I have found coke or coffee helps. I have been sick for the past 2 months! Nothing was working then I decided to re-introduce caffeine to my diet. Feeling much better...though still a bit sick. I can now get off the couch without feeing like I will die and get some work done around the house!!! I chew a LOT of mint gum. I learned that trick because I get car sick easily. My doctor gave me a sample of Tranquil Tummy crackers. It's a saltine infused with ginger. That helped too but only for a little while. Finally, rest, rest, rest. Don't feel bad for not being super mom. You will have plenty of time to make up for that in a few months when you get the log awaited burst of second tri-mester energy!

Best of luck to you!

the only thing i have found to work is water lots and pretzels or saltines but pretzels work better plus they dry your mouth out which helps you to drink more water.

Keep some snacks / crackers / grapes /water by your bed before going to bed for the night so that when you wake up you can eat or drink anything before getting to your feet. Also check if it has something to do with the brand of prenatals that you are taking...I felt a lot better when i changed my prenatals.

I had severe morning sickness until week 26, and the only thing that helped was that if I had a craving, no matter how weird, and I ate whatever it was, I would be able to keep that food down.

If it gets really bad, the best book on the subject is "Managing Morning Sickness: A Survival Guide for Pregnant Women"

Ginger ale worked for me. I was sick 4 mos with my first son, but only one day with my second, and that was the day I knew I was pregnant, it was an undeniable feeling. It's worse than being car sick or sea sick, that's for sure. There are all kinds of crazy remedies.... you have 3 mos to tryem all, lol. Good luck.

I'm one of those people that are sick the whole 9 months. Here's a list of things to try starting with things that minorly help and working up to things that help more so if the previous one doesn't work move on to the next one:

1. eat all day long - carry something with you at all times

2. preggy succors, things with ginger, all the other food remedies people suggest

3. sea bands

4. change your prenatal vitamins to only be the bare minimum vitamins you need. sometimes the extra stuff like iron can upset your stomach.

5. (talk to your dr first) take vitamin B6 & 1/2 a Unisom. it may make you tired the first week but after that your body gets used to it. I got through pregnancy #1 using what I listed in 1-5.

6. Phenergan (this made me tired all the time but I only threw up a couple times with pregnancy #2 on this. The b6/Unisom combo wasn't strong enough for pregnancy #2)

7. Zofran (this was my saving grace with pregnancy #3 - I could actually function, wasn't tired all the time, never threw up.. but in order for it to work the best I had to take it at the same time every day regardless of whether I felt sick. It seemed to build up in my system and the moment I'd miss a dose, the next day I'd be unable to function.)

If you can drink it Ginger Ale, but a good one not just the stuff from the grocery store get one from a whole foods place. Works for most not for all. Some one told me to eat something greasy when you get nausea the grease counters the other stuff and gets rid of th nausea. not sure did not have morning sickness (it's ok curse me) but this is what i have heard.

For me the most helpful approaches were to take my prenatal vitamins before bedtime (NEVER in the morning) and to keep saltines or oyster crackers by my bed to munch on before getting up each morning.

The 2 times that I took my prenatals in the morning were the only 2 times that I have vomitted during any of my 3 pregnancies.
