Morning Sickness Blues

Hello everyone, this is my first baby and I'm super excited, except for the morning sickness. Can anyone give me some remedies to help calm it?

What can I do next?

Ok I only had morning sickness once so I didn't try anything...but when I was preg I got food poisoning on Thanksgiving and I also got the rotavirus (don't let anyone tell you that adults are immune)...anyways the Dr prescribed me Zolfran...it is expensive but it worked and it doesn't make you drowsy!

I hope you feel better soon.

I feel for you V.. The only thing that worked for me was ginger ale and saltine crackers. Hope it helps. Also eat a few crackers before you get out of bed.

Congrats new mommy to be! I didn't throw up throughout my pregnancy, but I dry-heaved (which was almost as bad) all the time, w/o warning. The only thing that helped me was to eat a light snack every 2 hours. I've heard of ginger being good as well. Hope this helps!

Time is really the only thing that will make it go away. Just eat what you can stand and avoid things with strong odors. We had to banish eggs in our house for the enture length of both of my pregnancies because the smell would make me nauseous. I also ate/drank a lot of fresh smoothies. Not the store-bought kind you get in the yogurt section. Real ones, from Smoothie King, or made at home in the blender with fruit and yogurt.

It helps to keep SOMETHING in your stomach because you'll be more sick feeling if you're empty. Snack often. I kept sprite or a water bottle and graham crackers or cereal bars by the bed for first thing in the morning, or for in the middle of the night when you get up to go to the bathroom.
And you probably know by now that it's not just "morning" sickness. It lasts all day! But it's often worse in the morning because it's been a long time since you've last eaten. That's why the middle of the night snack is a good idea.

Congrats!

Congratulations. The morning sickness will pass. Hang in there. Raw carrots sometimes worked for me. Other times, peanut butter.
And then there's always saltine crackers.

V.,

Congratulations! Saltines worked well for me....sometimes coupled with sprite or 7up.

Bless your heart, I feel your pain. Here are a few things that worked for me,,,,, hot tea, crackers (saltines), Sprite (clear carbonated drinks). Do not eat a alot of greasy or heavy things at dinner, and try to get a lot of water in you before bed to avoid dehydration. Hope this helps you, trust me it will all get better and be worth it in the end!!

I saw someone mentioned ginersnaps--those worked the best for me to but you have to be sure and get ones with real ginger---they have them at Walmart but you will probably have more luck with genuine ginger at Whole FOods or Central Market

Pretty much you have to keep it simple. This is the time when you discover that foods you have hated in the past all of the sudden have an appeal to you. And food that you love might be the worse thing you can possibly swallow. But, like another comment said, avoid strong smells. I wouldn't go to restaurants at this time. It's only for a little while. I've always been allergic to eggs, but when I was pregnant, during my first weeks, I craved them so bad, and my body was able to handle it, after those few weeks, I tried it again, I was all of the sudden allergic again, go figure! It's one of the things about pregnancy that you will never forget, so have fun with it!
